Publisher's Summary
Grace Johnson does not want to marry a titled gentleman. She is only happy and at peace when spending time in a garden - any garden. When she visits her sister, the Duchess of Sudworth, Grace is disappointed that even her beloved sister is not listening to her. Grace hates matchmaking schemes but seems powerless to stop them.
Harry Long is head gardener at Sudworth Hall. He is a good and loyal member of staff. The day that Grace walks into his life turns everything upside down. For the first time, he is taking risks for the beautiful pixie that has walked into his life, but his actions could cost him everything.
An innocent picnic threatens Grace and Harry in ways that neither could have predicted, but their lives and the lives of those around them will never be the same because of it.

Dumb People Doing Really, Really Dumb Things
Only the continuing storylines of the sisters kept me going through Grace... When the story was drawn back to Grace's own, oh my GOD! I wanted to claw my eyes out.
Grace is supposed to be the quiet, withdrawing type but here, all she does is cry, cling desperately to Harry's neck, and oh yes: she whines and spews drivel a lot. She clings to his neck; she croaks his name in despair.
You get the drift.
And while her sister, poor Annabelle, is forced to marry a man because of a single kiss, here Grace and Harry run behind the bushes every chance they get to grope each other and to swap spit.
I'll continue onto the next book of the four sisters because the introduction of Eleanor was pleasant. But boy am I glad that I listened to this as part of the Romance Package and that I can delete it from my library...

Dumb & dumber
Grace terrible terrible. Peter & Rosalind story was a bit of a twist the came the twists of Annabelle but this Grace character who is completely ungrateful to her sister. Just emphasizes how the poor older sister was exploited by parents and siblings alike.

Weak story, woeful narration.
I hate leaving negative reviews, but this narrator is just not good. There are numerous mispronunciations, and she reads as though she’s unfamiliar with the rhythm and cadence of spoken English. As for the story, the only reason I’ve continued with this series is curiosity as to the outcome. Each installment is weaker than the previous, with plots and characters growing progressively more annoying, implausible and anachronistic.

Annoyingly Implausible
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I confess to skimming thru parts. A silly plot with the added annoyance of repeated hot & heavy petting behind the bushes (seriously, groping lust is NOT romance). My only interest was the furtherance of the storylines in the overarching plot of the book series.

The Narrator can't do accents.
The narrator's shouldn't try to do any accents as she fails miserably, her dismissal efforts detract from the story. The reading is not constant, it slows, then speeds up. Throw in an accent and it all goes "pear shaped". The Hero's accent was the worst, it varied from Cockney to West Country Brogue on to Yorkshire, with abit of "Brummie" thrown in.
Then there was the secondary character who was Spanish. I don't know enough about their accents to know where she meandered, but it was no Spanish accent, I recognised.
The story had alot of the characters from earlier books and some loose ends, from those books were tied up.
Like those stories, lots of problems occur, then suddenly there is a solution. This story was at least believable unlike the previous one.

Terrible narration
The narrator seems to have problems pronouncing particular words (orangery, orchard, mischievous...), suggesting a poor knowledge of English coupled with equally poor preparation and rehearsal. The quality of the recording changes, as if forgotten sections were spliced in. Overall the lack of coherence in the performance is really quite jarring.
