Publisher's summary

The great movements of God in history were often led by well-known preachers and pioneering missionaries, but few of us have heard the behind-the-scenes stories of the men and women who partnered with them, funded them, and contributed to many amazing works of God.

This book takes us inside three stories from history to show how great movements of God happen and how we can:

  • Find our parts to play in God's kingdom
  • Give our lives to the things that matter most
  • And live for a legacy that we can look back on and be proud of

Gospel Patrons is ultimately about two very important questions: First, How has God worked through people to change the world? And second, How do we become those kind of people?

How will you join God in his life-giving work?

Have you ever wanted to be more involved in God's work in this world, especually as it relates to his desire for every human being to know him? Have you ever thought missionaries and pastors are not the only people he works through in that way? To the contrary, God wants to work through every person to do his work in this world, and he has equipped each one differently to do it. In fact, when God calls people to go, preach, lead, or anything else in his life-giving mission, he calls others to join him in making it happen. These people, the author says, are gospel patrons. This short book recounts several stories of significant advances in the mission of God throughout history because generous, wise, and attentive gospel patrons have supported, advised, facilitated, protected, strategized, and/or funded the visionary or truth-speaking work of others. God works through gospel patrons. And he accomplishes through them just as much as through the initiatives they support. If you're wondering what role you could have in his work in this world with your professional expertise or personal resources, or if you are serving in a missional venture yourself, this book could change your outlook, the outcome, and possibly even everything.
