Lots of info in a short amount of time!

I was really excited to listen to this audiobook because this coming school year the teachers in the high school I teach at are required to use Google Classroom. I thought it would be a good idea to become familiar with it before having to set up my own site for my students. This audiobook was fairly short (just under an hour), so I expected it would talk me through how to set it up. Instead, it was an overview of all the features available to teachers and students when using Google Classroom. Being that I'm not yet familiar with Google Classroom, this wasn't really what I was looking for. This would be a good book to listen to for teachers who already have their sites set up and can follow along as they look at their site so that they can learn along with the audio as to what they can do within the site. I plan to revisit this audiobook to expand on my knowlegde of Google Classroom after I get a grasp on how to set my site up and maneuver around it.

The narration by Mike Norgaard was really fast for me because of the large amount of information being presented. Many people grow bored with narration that gives the feeling of dragging on, but when learning something new, I need things to slow down a bit (or at least have a pause here and there). I guess that is why we have the pause/stop button in Audible. This is just a personal preference of mine, rather than being a problem with the audio. A very small problem I did notice with the recording of this audio, though it did not take away from the overall listening experience, was a clicking sound in the background toward the beginning of the book. It sounded like someone pressing the enter key to go to the next slide on the computer. Then, at one point after the "click," part of a sentence was repeated. This repetition only happened once, but just thought I would mention it. Mike Norgaard's presentation of the information was told through a clear voice, without stumbling over words. His volume was perfect for me and he maintained a "teaching tone." There was nothing that indicated he added personal opinion throughout. Everything seemed strickly professional, which is what I prefer when learning something new.

Without a doubt, Google Classroom is the present and the future. Google Apps for Education is the way to go, especially if it is a school/district-wide initiative, since Google is constantly improving, updating, and expanding. As I stated before, this will be more beneficial to me after I set up and learn to maneuver my own Google Classroom site. This book covers many/all the features of Google Classroom, offers tips for teachers, mentions extension apps/programs, and gives best practices for use. I'm going to see if Ted Lebowski wrote (or if Mike Norgaard narrated) individual books on how to use each of the Google apps available for Google Classroom, such as Google Drive, Earth, or Slides. I also feel that this audiobook would have been more useful to teachers if a PDF of the information would have been included, since I was not able to find the matching Kindle book on Amazon. Overall, if you are looking to touch up on what you can do with your Google Classroom site, this book may be the one for you because it is jam-packed with information. But, if you are a beginner and looking to learn how to set up your site and how to use it, you may want to save this book until you are ready to learn more or expand upon what you already know.

Thank you for reading my review. I hope it helped! :-)

Update: I found the Kindle companion to this audiobook for $2.99, which is about the same price as the audiobook, but it does not give me the option to look inside and sample some of the pages. Perhaps purchasing it will help me get a better grasp on how to implement these ideas. For that, I gave the overall score a 4 instead of a 3. :-)

Comprehensive introduction

The performance was lagoon. The content was easy to follow but for a guide it didn’t really tell you what to do. It stressed the features of Google classroom. I suppose that’s a difficult thing to show in a book without pictures.
