Publisher's summary

In Good Leaders Ask Great Questions, John C. Maxwell delves into the process of becoming a successful leader by examining how questions can be used to advantage. What are the questions leaders should ask themselves? What questions should they ask members of their team? He then responds to the toughest problems leaders have presented to him. Using social media, Maxwell offered the floor to followers with unanswered questions about what it takes to achieve their professional best, and selected 70 questions on the most popular topics, including:

  • How can I discover my unique purpose as a leader?
  • What is the most effective daily habit that any leader should develop?
  • How do you motivate an unmotivated person?
  • How would you work with a difficult leader who has no vision?

This book is a thorough, insightful response to those readers and anyone who feels they have plateaued on their journey to develop their ultimate potential. Every leader has room to grow, and the advice in these pages will help listeners assess their current position, and structure an effective plan to achieve their goals.

Great Content with One Caveat

Overall this is a fantastic book. Great insights, great wisdom. I have listened to nearly all of John Maxwell's books and was a member of his Maximum Impact Club for years.

There is one area that can use improvement in this work and his others--the continual "awe, shucks" false modesty approach to self-promotion. He is a really good guy, and I am certain he doesn't mean to do it, but nearly any material I have listened to from him has repeated self-promotion under the premise of false modesty. One example in this book: "I just couldn't get my team to not name the new company after me. They simply insisted on calling it the John Maxwell company that is available for leaders to enroll in a number of programs we have available..." I get a bit hung up on it, but, at this point, it's my barrier and not his.

Very much worth the listen.

Very good book

I really enjoyed this book, I think it would apply to more than business and corporations. I plan on applying it as a mom and wife. I will be listening to it again and purchasing more books from John C. Maxwell. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Questions are a necessity for improvement

The questions featured here are thought provoking and worth more than a once off read (or listen) I will be coming back again in a couple of years to listen afresh. I love the last line. ... paraphrased ...you don’t always have to know the answer, but just by asking you’ve already made a stride.

Great for a first time leader

I've been in management for about 2 months now and felt this book gave me an idea of how to think like a leader vs an employee.

A good overview and summary of what is needed to be a good leader and to develop leaders and how to nurture and keep them.
