In Solitude, Oregon, everyone has secrets… and some will kill to keep them.

When she believes a teen is falsely accused of drug dealing, social worker Carly Taylor takes on a high-risk case and her estranged husband - the detective in charge of the investigation - to prove the boy innocent. A deadly new designer drug has taken hold of her small rural hometown of Solitude, Oregon, and Carly is determined to find the real dealer and clear the teen’s name. But the deeper she digs into the case, the more danger she unearths, until someone decides it’s time for Carly to move on… permanently.

Investigator Seth Harding knows he can’t stop his wife when she has a child to protect. But he risks any chance of reconciliation with Carly if he can’t learn to accept her dangerous job. When a drug dealer decides Carly is getting too close, will Seth lose her altogether?

A pulse-pounding Rogue River novella, Gone to Her Grave is the second exciting addition to the new romantic suspense series from Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot.

Life is not quiet in Solitude

Another quick story in Solitude. This is Carly Taylor’s story. She’s a social worker and her estranged husband is a county deputy sheriff. Can they resolve their marital problems before Carly’s job puts her in danger?

Rogue River Noveella series

The novella series has alternate stories written by Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliott. Although classified as romance-suspense, they are excellent suspense stories with little or no romance. Kate Rudd narrates superbly.

Not a stand-alone. Less mystery & suspense compared to previous book.

I listened to audiobook narrator, Kate Rudd, whose brilliant voice-acting brought this novella to life in my imagination. I rated her voice-acting 5 stars, whilst the novella was worthy of 2 to 2.5 stars. This is a continuation of the previous story set in the small town of Solitude, about a dangerous new street drug, but with new characters added to the previous cast. Social worker Carly Taylor is separated from her husband, Seth Harding, who is a Rogue County detective. The duo are supposedly still in love w each other, and there’s much ado about their relationship, but they don’t seem very compatible—no matter what each professes during internal monologues. Like other Melinda Leigh novellas, this one’s light on mystery but laden with angsty romance. In the next book, I hope Kendra Elliot pulls together the numerous floating subplot threads, and perhaps she’ll focus more attention on the murders.

Ridiculously short, normally I enjoy Melinda Leigh’s books, but this was ridiculously short, wish I never purchased it!

Not very interesting

I am listening to the three book series. They are not very interesting even after two books. Certainly not her best work.

Very good narration

The narration is very good with the appropriate speed, emotion, and voices. The story is also very good. It is book 2 in this series but can be heard as a standalone if you choose. I love the characters and the family interaction. The suspense is very good but this book does have a lot of angst in it.

Good summer read

Enjoyed listening to the audio. Good story. Believable characters. The narrator could use a little more practice sounding like a guy, but the story carried the day. I'll be listening to the next one

Carly

Another brilliant storyline and narration! Credit for doing all the different voices and making each voice it's own
