Many people will remember Eric Liddell as the Olympic gold medalist from the Academy Award-winning film Chariots of Fire. Famously, Liddell would not run on Sunday because of his strict observance of the Christian Sabbath, and so he did not compete in his signature event, the 100 meters, at the 1924 Paris Olympics. He was the greatest sprinter in the world at the time, and his choice not to run was ridiculed by the British Olympic committee, his fellow athletes, and most of the world press.

God's Works
- By Miranda on 04-07-18
By: Jack Canfield, and others
Publisher's Summary
Dr. Dave Walker was a successful anesthesiologist with a special interest in the intensive care unit (ICU). Disillusioned with God after a series of tragedies, he was living for himself and his work. Yet he longed for more than just physical healing for his patients, which set him on a quest to find a God who cared.
After a dramatic encounter, he started praying with his patients. Suddenly things happened beyond anything he could have imagined. Patients were healed miraculously; others experienced Jesus bringing comfort and peace; and still others felt the power of God's love in the face of tragedy.

Perhaps not for all, but I loved it!
An anecdotal history of an anesthesiologist from South Africa who also traveled to some Muslim countries, and carried his beliefs with him. For the most part, each chapter is a story of a different patient, with not all of them ending in glory or healing... But each is reassuring in its’ own way.

Inspirational!
Dr Walker does an excellent job of sharing his experiences, some overt and some subtle deeds of God's work. The biggest lesson this book has left with me, is that we need to have faith and trust God and His plan.
The only critique I have is that the final mix of audio isn't great. It feels like there were edits after the fact and that they were merely inserted rather than being refined for an even read at a consistent audio level. It didn't stop me from finishing the book, but did frustrate me along the way. This is a technical issue though, Dr Walker's performance was more than satisfactory.

Walking Through the Valley
Jesus walks with us through the Valley of the Shadow of Death. God is faithful. If we seek Him, we will find Him. The doctor quotes many verses, like 'Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.'.
Sometimes, God cures in a supernatural way - and Dr. Walker - relates some of the miracles and challenges of the ICU. It is an encouraging book to read and hear.

Excellent audio book!
I really enjoyed listening to this book. He is articulate and inspiring without being patronising. You can feel the emotion of his life experiences , which brought laughter and tears to me which very rarely happens.
I would recommend this audio book whole heartedly to anyone that is trying to look into spiritualism . It’s not pushy on religion, it’s just factually related to his own personal experiences with ‘God’ during his work as a physician .
