Publisher's Summary

How far the Dark Service questline has brought me....

It all began like an epic adventure. Finding the Tear of the Demon King and the Black Sword, journeying to the lost continent, meeting good friends, and battling vicious adversaries. It was a breakthrough into the depths of the virtual world, where no one before me had gone.

Everything changed, however, the day Brandt Ironfist blackmailed me into traveling to the very place in the Blighted Wasteland where, according to the old Walker stories, death itself lived. I came back alive and brought back the infragun, a forgotten weapon located in an old laboratory. And what did I discover upon my return? That Brandt had killed my girl, Lisa, and that I'd been hit with a lethal dose of radiation, with only a little time left to live. Days.

So, here I am in New Atrium. The first move's been made, and the game continues, so help us Dark Necta!

Great story with a pretty fast paced ending

Nice that the author puts a bow on the final chapter of this book. Love how it all comes together. Would have preferred a little longer ending though.

Big improvement over book 2

I enjoyed book 1 a lot, though not as much as other books of this type. Book 2 was honestly hard to stay focused on and keep up with — I had to force myself to listen and finish it so I was hesitant to get book 3. I won’t spoil the storyline but this was a big improvement and worth the listen!

great story!

for me this was a great book. I admit that knowing the guy reading it may make me a tad bias. however, I the genre is right up my alley, so Troy's voice was the icing. have gladly told my friends about it

I love these books

I loved to listen to all 3 of these books. The narrator was great. I'm a tad bit sad that after a 3 book seriea, that the very ending was wrapped up rather quickly, but it only because I wanted to hear more.

Well at least it wrapped everything up...

It seemed like it would be a great book and it was all wrapping up fairly well, then as if the books funding was cut, it ended like a TV show that isn't getting a new season... All of these things are building up against him and he might not overcome it, then 5 seconds later, all of his problems are resolved and everything is golden and they even dropped him an extra million dollars just to add the cherry... Subpar writing... Should've expected this when I saw that the book was 8 hours shorter than the others...

Good out of game, horrible in game

When not in the game, the book is pretty great. When in the game, well, its lame. Basically I get a sense the author is trying to capture the experience of manufactured mass produced video game plot lines. Which he does great. But no one enjoys manufactured mass produced video game plotlines. I ended up just skipping all the in game bits.

Hungry for more

Novak's Altergame just seems to get better and better without signs of slowing down. Looks like we have settlement development to look forward to in the coming books ! I'm so excited !
