She advises us to make parents, not children, our top priority, in much the same way that flight attendants instruct us to put on our own oxygen masks before assisting others.

So helpful I'm starting it again!
I cannot even articulate how much this book helped me. Raised 2 kids to adulthood doing exactly what she says NOT to do and I can tell you from experience she is spot on 100%. Best parenting book I have ever read, hands down and I've read hundreds probably since the 80s. I think she may just have saved my life. I loved my kids dearly but never believed it was ok to take care of ME. I've always put everyone else first.
Oh how I wish I had read this book 30 years ago. Now I am full time caretaker for my grandchild and researching constantly how to do it better than the first time around. I could never put my finger on what went wrong and now I know.
Could have spared us all much heartache had I known all this. But it's never too late to change.
I really liked that the author narrated, it felt so authentic. I am going to listen to this until it changes me from the inside out! ♡♡

Best parenting book!
On the advice of a friend, I got this book and it has been amazing. It’s not only advice on parenting but also pretty much every relationship in my life. I will definitely be listening to this over and over.
