Publisher's summary

Meet Suzanne Hart, owner and operator of Donut Hearts coffee shop in April Springs, North Carolina. After her divorce from Max, an out-of-work actor she's dubbed "The Great Impersonator," Suzanne decided to pursue her one true passion in life: donuts. So she cashed in her settlement and opened up shop in the heart of her beloved hometown.

But when a dead body is dumped on her doorstep like a sack of flour, Suzanne's cozy little shop becomes an all-out crime scene. Now, everyone in town is dropping by for glazed donuts and gruesome details. The retired sheriff warns her to be careful-and they're all suspects. Soon Suzanne-who finds snooping as irresistible as donuts-is poking holes in everyone's alibis.

Don't bother

I will speak of the positives first. There are recipes included. The narrator Linda Bloom did a pretty good job giving the characters a voice.
Now the negatives. There is no reason for Suzanne to investigate this murder. She claims he's a friend as well as a customer, but there's no indication of any kind of friendship between them. She knows nothing about this guy. The characters, including Suzanne, are unlikable and uninteresting. Suzanne keeps telling her friends not to get involved because it's dangerous yet she insists on getting involved. She lacks people skills when talking to suspects. The book is slow paced and not very interesting. I read this book out of sheer determination because I paid for it!

A Pleasant Escape

Nothing bad about this introduction to a new series. It was a pleasant listen. Mildly entertaining, but predictable.

Not realistic

I love a good murder mystery, but the characters have to be believable. Why on earth would an otherwise sane person who owns a donuts shop, get involved in a murder investigation? There was no need for it. The victim is a "friend" of hers, but clearly not a close friend. I ended up annoyed with her the whole book and agreeing with everyone else when they all told her to butt out and let the police handle the investigation. I will say, including recipes after each chapter was a nice touch though.

Put me to sleep

Not sure if that is due to the monotoned narrator or to the story so will listen to book #2 to decide.

We should get donuts with this

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I love mystery's that are food related, this one U can not help but love suzanne Hart, and the love she put's into her donuts, now what is nice is her personality and her hart in everything she does from righting what ever she believes might be a wrong and making sure her name is clear no matter what. Great read

What did you like best about this story?

The donuts and Meeting Ms Hart and her family and friends

Which scene was your favorite?

The Scene's in the shop are so funny

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

It Was Ummm... Okay

If you could sum up Glazed Murder: A Donut Shop Mystery in three words, what would they be?

It was okay

What other book might you compare Glazed Murder: A Donut Shop Mystery to and why?

Other cozy mysteries but others were quite a bit better.

Did Linda Bloom do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Fairly well, she changed her voice to some degree but I've heard better narrators. Her voice just seemed, what's a good word.... ummm.... plain maybe? I can't put my finger on it. Maybe it was just that the book wasn't exciting enough, fairly good book but no anticipation? Difficult to explain. Read it yourself and see. Love to see other reviews of this book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it wasn't that type of book

Any additional comments?

I've read better cozy mysteries. A bit too simple, not really the kind of book that makes you anxious to "get back to it"... I did keep reading and it was okay but not a great book. Just seemed much too simple, no excitement, nothing kept me really enthralled and anxious to "turn the page", if you will.
