Acerca de esta escucha
This book answers the question: "how do we do all that amazing stuff with computers?" by going beyond explaining how computers work, to talking about how we use the things that computers do to invent new things and to make all kinds of wonderful things happen.
Along the way, the listener will get a glimpse into the inside story of how we got to where we are with computers, get an understanding of how some of the "tricks" are done, clear up a misconception or two, and get insight into where things are going and what is possible.

Dave Thomas and Andy Hunt wrote the first edition of this influential book in 1999 to help their clients create better software and rediscover the joy of coding. These lessons have helped a generation of programmers examine the very essence of software development. Now, 20 years later, this new edition re-examines what it means to be a modern programmer. Topics range from personal responsibility and career development to architectural techniques for keeping your code flexible and easy to adapt and reuse.

Even the smartest among us can feel inept as we fail to figure out which light switch or oven burner to turn on, or whether to push, pull, or slide a door. The fault, argues this ingenious - even liberating - audiobook, lies not in ourselves, but in product design that ignores the needs of users and the principles of cognitive psychology. The Design of Everyday Things shows that good, usable design is possible. The rules are simple: make things visible, exploit natural relationships that couple function and control, and make intelligent use of constraints.

Historia
For all of neuroscience's advances, we've made little progress on its biggest question: How do simple cells in the brain create intelligence? Jeff Hawkins and his team discovered that the brain uses map-like structures to build a model of the world - not just one model, but hundreds of thousands of models of everything we know. This discovery allows Hawkins to answer important questions about how we perceive the world, why we have a sense of self, and the origin of high-level thought.

This book is designed to be an introduction to machine learning algorithms for a complete beginner. It starts with an explanation of exactly what machine learning algorithms are and then walks you through the languages and frameworks used to create them. Studying machine learning is considered to be quite challenging due to the impression that special talent is required or some unachievable level of mathematics is needed in order to understand the various algorithms and techniques. But anyone can learn to become a machine learner and put the theory into practice.

Edit Better was made for video editors who consider themselves advanced hobbyists or growth-minded professionals, artists who know that the tools of editing matter far less than the knowledge of how to use those tools powerfully. This audiobook does not illuminate the workings of Avid, Final Cut, or Premiere, and is not a meditation on film editing. What it is: a provocative, wide-ranging collection of strategies and tactics for the creative application of TV and video editing, no matter your editing tools.

How big is the universe? How many numbers are there? And is infinity + 1 is the same as 1 + infinity? Such questions occur to young children and our greatest minds. And they are all the same question: What is infinity? In Beyond Infinity, Eugenia Cheng takes us on a staggering journey from elemental math to its loftiest abstractions. Along the way, she considers how to use a chessboard to plan a worldwide dinner party, how to make a chicken-sandwich sandwich, and how to create infinite cookies from a finite ball of dough.

Imagine a world where the difference between man and machine blurs, where the line between humanity and technology fades, and where the soul and the silicon chip unite. This is not science fiction. This is the twenty-first century according to Ray Kurzweil, the “restless genius” (The Wall Street Journal), “ultimate thinking machine” (Forbes), and inventor of the most innovative and compelling technology of our era.

Easy to Understand
I took some programming classes in college years ago. Always enjoyed computers and marveled at how “they” did this and that and never learned much beyond those early programming classes. Basic... tells you how old I must be.
The author wrote this book and suitable to audio as it was as if he was telling the story at a dinner party or other social event. He made it easy to understand without dumbing it down.
This book was so informative, I may even purchase a couple of copies for people I know who would rather hold a book in their hands. For me the content via audiobook was informative, fun and left me looking forward to learning more.
Thanks, John J Smith - is that a pseudonym?
