Book about determination, love and trust.

I received this book for free by the author/narrator for an honest and unbiased review of the book.

I really enjoyed this book, I enjoyed seeing Rain grow up and mature in her own way and time. This book was about family, love, who to trust and determination on everyone's part to bring down the bad guys. I am hoping for a book 2, I would definitely buy it. This was a suspenseful twist and turn sort of book and I just really liked it.
The narrator did a great job with all the voices and accents, I would listen to books by her again as well.
This is totally worth a credit!!

Happy Reading/Listening!!!

Thriller Full of Action & Suspense

The author did an amazing job with this story. It is complex with lots of action and some twists. I felt like I usually do when I'm watching one of those action packed movies my husband loves.

Rain is a 18 year old girl that has been raised by her dad. Her mom left 10 years ago. She doesn't know why she has never returned. Rain is totally oblivious to her parents lives before she was born.

Her parents have a lot of secrets they hid from her. She ends up becoming a soldier in order to find her mom and things go down hill from there. She meets a handsome soldier named Prescott. Can he be trusted?

Rain's dad ends up getting together with his old special forces crew in order to help her. Lots of ups and downs.

This story would have been a 5 star rating if the romance between Rain and Prescott had been developed a little. This is not a HEA book. It ends on a cliffhanger. I assume there will be another book to continue the story...

The narrator did a great job bringing the story to life.

Great Narration, Good Story and Fast Paced Action!

Would you consider the audio edition of Girl Soldier to be better than the print version?

The print version is beautiful but the character voices really make this story come alive. I prefer the audiobook if you want to envision it after reading the print version.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Girl Soldier?

There were so many memorable moments! I think the first one would be in Chapter 2 when Rain and Prescott are in the tower and Dalton is first revealed. Great action scene! Edge of my seat!

Which scene was your favorite?

I liked how Rain developed over the beginning of the book. You can see her get more powerful as the book progressed. Her playful attitude turned to tenacity and no-holds-barred by the end of the book. I enjoyed her meeting with her "mother" in the cafe.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Bourne Identity meets Angelina Jolie in Salt as a young Catniss Everdine.

Any additional comments?

Loved the narrator and the speed of the story. I don't like long drawn out, slow narration.

Hang on for the Ride

Any additional comments?

Really enjoyed this book. Suspense, lots of action, betrayal, mystery everything you need to keep you glued to a really good book.

Every family has secrets, but Rain's family secrets put her on a path that take her into the world of the CIA.

Holly Lindin did a great job narrating the story. The pace, clarity of narration, different character voices, everything was great.

Very entertaining book. This is a book that I will listen to repeatedly and recommend often.

Some serious action sequences

Any additional comments?

Once you get over the fact that this story is asking you to believe a lot, or suspend your belief on basic common sense levels, it is one heck of a suspenseful, action-packed, that DID NOT just happen, heart thumping, OMGosh-what-did-I-just-read, oh, I forgot to breathe, listen.

It starts out pretty innocuous but don't be fooled, the adrenaline pump-fest is just around the corner.

The narrator was excellent and was probably the biggest catalyst towards keeping you at the edge of your seat during this listen. If you can get past the head scratchers, (which were minor in the big picture but did make you wonder) this was a very good listen.

an incredibly suspense story

T.R. Horne crafts an incredibly suspense story with an interesting main character.  Rain Wilson is a girl with a missing history.  She has no idea who she is or where she came from.  All she knows is that she is on the trail to finding her estranged mother and will stop at nothing to find her.

Holly Lindin provides the narration for Girl Soldier and does a really nice job with it.   Production quality and narration style worked really well with this book, adding to it instead of taking away from it.  I will be keeping an eye out for other books that Lindin narrates.

I'm always a little skeptical when a book lists some of your favorite books or movies in their description. Sometimes this is just a play to get you to read a subpar book that is slightly similar.  Girl Soldier was not one of these books.  It was compared to The Bourne Identity and it really does draw some parallels and similarities from that series.

Thankfully Horne understands that readers sometimes need a break from the non-stop action that this book has.  The author was able to place little bits of humor and light-heartedness into the story keeping it a little bit lighter.  Horne's writing when it came to the action scenes was perfect.  It really reminded me of the best in the business.

I'm not sure if it's because I'm a male and I know who my parents are.  Or if it's because I'm not a trained assassin with no memory, but I found it hard to related to Rain.  Don't get me wrong, she was an absolute BA, but sometimes it's hard to follow a story that you have little to no understanding of where the main character is coming from.  Thankfully Horne's writing style was so good and the book was so action packed that this didn't really take anything away for me.
