I wish there was a book 4

I’ve “read” all three books of this series and enjoyed each one. I wish there were more.

The best yet in this series

A Ghost of a Potion is the third book in the Magic Potion Mystery series, and I honestly believe that it is the best so far in this series. As far as the plot...basically, Carly is a white witch, magical potion maker, and empath. Many of her friends and family also have special gifts, but not all of them. With Halloween approaching, ghosts who have not been able to "cross over" will look to her (and her cousin Delia) for help to resolve their unfinished business so they can move on. A murder occurs, giving Carly one more spirit to deal with. Her boyfriend, Dylan's, mom is accused, and Carly tries to help clear Patricia's name (even though she hates Carly).

The first two books were excellent and introduced a nice variety of quirky characters, who I enjoyed getting to know. But I think that in this installment the characters personalities and interactions were very finely tuned - it all just seemed to come together so smoothly. Heather has managed to introduce an improbable scenario and make me feel like it was natural. I was especially impressed with how she managed to mesh several different sub-plots seamlessly into one story, and they all just flowed together and became one. I liked that the reasons for some of the spirits not being able to move on where not just "find out who killed me", but instead were more touching.

In the end, I was extremely satisfied with the resolutions of all the sub-plots (although we have to wait for Dylan's reaction in the next book - which is OK). It all just felt good and right, and I was sorry when the book ended. As a matter of fact, I was so drawn into the plot and characterizations that I ended up finishing the book in one day. I kept looking for a place to quit, but never found one. I had to know what was going to happen - and, to me, that is the sign of a great book. I look forward to more in this series.

So happy it made me sad

I truly love the series. I find the characters much like the ones I would see in my every day life. It makes them more in chanting and more familiar. As Darcy moves forward in her enforced. Of hibernation. I truly love this series. I find the characters much like the ones I would see in my every day life. It makes them more and chanting and more familiar. As Darcy moves forward in her self-enforced hibernation, The needs of our community draw her back out and she has to deal with ghosts. As the drama heats up, her life is in danger and she is against the clock trying to figure out who killed whom. I am sad to hear that this series will not be continued by the publisher, but I will listen to it and read it over and over again.

I can't wait for the next book, I'm hooked on this series. Heather Blake is a genius when it comes to witchy magic.

Super fun and cute

Where does Ghost of a Potion rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book is a cute light hearted read. The story is cute and the mystery was pretty original. This is the 3rd book of three and I read all 3 and was very pleased!

What other book might you compare Ghost of a Potion to and why?

These books do remind me a little of the SookieStackhouse books, but more PG. But fun fantasy with a mystery.

What about Carla Mercer-Meyer’s performance did you like?

She has a great voice, not boring at all and seems to fit the book.

It is an easy listen while driving or doing cores around the house. I also enjoy listening to the reader.

Best Yet

What did you love best about Ghost of a Potion?

My problem with the first two books has been Carly and Dylan's relationship because they all but ignored the reason it ended in the first place; Dylan's Mama.

Since it was one the main plot points I have no real complaints about it now.

Would you be willing to try another book from Heather Blake? Why or why not?

Unlikely. I have read the previous two books in the series and while I like the well enough there not the kind of stories I would listen to again.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Carla Mercer-Meyer is a good narrator but she is just not as good as other "southern" narrators I have listen to before.

It's hard to really enjoy a performance when you know there is someone who could have done a better job.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not laugh or cry but a few of the twist did surprise me.

If you enjoyed the first two books there is no reason you won't enjoy this one.

My favorite character is still Delia and the blooming friendship that is developing between her and Carly.

I love that you keep the same narrator for all the series. it keeps you connected with the character.

Love these books

I think this is my 5th time listening to this series hoping you will be adding to it soon can’t wait for the next book in your other series to come out in August

Another Good Book

This is another good addition to this series. There is more character development among Carly which will hopefully be reflected in the next book. There is a huge development in the relationship between Carly and Patricia. I look forward to the next book to see how the relationships change.
