Publisher's Summary

A small number of cameras have the ability to capture ghosts on film. This gift comes at a steep price; the ghosts are resentful and hungry, and the cameras offer them a rare chance to reach their favourite prey... humans.

Jenine doesn't know any of this when she finds an abandoned Polaroid camera in a lighthouse. At first she assumes the ghostly shapes in the photos are a glitch or a prank - but then the spirits begin to hunt her down, and she's forced into a deadly race to free herself from the camera's curse.

Good story read by a 10 year old

Really enjoyed the story. Thought it was a good concept and at times was downright creepy. However the narrator sounded like a monotone 10 year old. Would have been a lot better if it was someone else that actually gave the characters personalities and had emotion in her voice.

Disappointed

I usually enjoy this author’s books. So I was disappointed by this story. And the performance was abysmal. What a waste of money. Don’t bother

Horrible narrator, did not enjoy story

typically I like short stories and I've enjoyed a couple of Darcy Coats books but this was probably the worst book I've read in years.

Ghost camera ....needed a few more shots of scary

Very disappointed in the book. The story just fell flat for me. I was hoping for a good old fashioned ghost story and this book didn't quite hit the mark . Strange, I know, because there were plenty of ghosts. I simply lost track of the story because it did not hold my interest. Sad for a ghost story. The narrator was not good or exciting at all. Actually quite irritating to me. I've read another book by Darcy Coates and was very happy with the story and the amount of "spookiness" in it. Don't know if I'm willing to waste time or money on another book by the author and certainly not this narrator. This is my humble opinion of the book.

Short and Sweet

A good read. The only thing I wish was the profanity was dropped. I think the story could have stood without it.

As far as a ghost story goes this has a good twist to it. The characters aren't as strong as some of her other stories but it isn't bad.

This Was Weird, And Not In A Good Way

I have read or listened to many of Darcy Coates books, and most are pretty good. This one seemed like it was written by a child. The dialogue and writing style was very amateurish, and not of the same quality of her other books, The story was short and weak. There was almost no character development... no reason to care what happens to them. The only thing that reminded me of a Coates novel was the sprinkling in of British phrases. The reader was also not great.

Darcy Coates Does it Again!

I love Darcy Coates, all of her books are imaginative and she never disappoints. She doesn't use haunted house clichés and I appreciate that. The book keeps you interested, and doesn't leave any unanswered questions.

Great story, awful audio

I adore Darcy Coates and have read all but two of her books. This being said, the reader’s performance on this story was abysmal. It sounded like it was being read by a fourteen year old and it was difficult to listen to. In comparison with other audible qualities, I was not impressed.

Read by a ten year old? Must be written by one too

If this is a YA book I could not find anything that said that. The plot never develops and the dialogue sounds like what a middle schooler thinks adult women speak like.

If the IS a YA book then I would change my ratings to two stars.

Okay I guess

This story was interesting with some solid ideas but the main character was very passive and the dialogue reads like the author has never had a real conversation with another person and has never had a female friend.
The narrator did her best.

Great fast paced story

Brilliant story, took a bit to get used to the narrator who was quite monotone. But that's just personal tastes, others may love the narrators voice.
