Publisher's Summary

Talia Hibbert delivers a witty, hilarious romantic comedy about a woman who's tired of being 'boring' and recruits her mysterious, sexy neighbour to help her get a life - perfect for fans of Sally Thorne, Jasmine Guillory and Helen Hoang!

Chloe Brown is a chronically ill computer geek with a goal, a plan and a list. After almost - but not quite - dying, she's come up with a list of directives to help her 'Get a Life':

  • Enjoy a drunken night out
  • Ride a motorbike
  • Go camping
  • Have meaningless but thoroughly enjoyable sex
  • Travel the world with nothing but hand luggage
  • And...do something bad

But it's not easy being bad, even when you've written out step-by-step guidelines. What Chloe needs is a teacher, and she knows just the man for the job: Redford 'Red' Morgan.

With tattoos and a motorbike, Red is the perfect helper in her mission to rebel, but as they spend more time together, Chloe realises there's much more to him than his tough exterior implies. Soon she's left wanting more from him than she ever expected...maybe there's more to life than her list ever imagined?

Genuine romance

Red and Chloe have a genuine relationship with relatable hardships , nothing feels forced during this story. There are genuine moments of hilarity and awareness and care . This book prevents you from seeing Chloe as sob story due to her disability and gets you to see how amazing she is regardless of it , it was wonderful to hear how Red and Chloe bring the best out of each other regardless of their own fears, in addition to how they work with each other and on their own in order to build their resilience their damaging past experience.

I honestly wish there would be more story like this highlighting that you can be in a perfect healthy relationship if you have a disability or have come from a past of abuse.

Also the love scene Read tantalising Well.
I recommend , this as a read. I will be listening again.

What a delightful and refreshing romance!

I absolutely adored the story of Chloe and Red. Far from the usual romantic tropes of beautiful and timid girl and brooding and rich hero, this is an endearing story about a girl living with her physical disability and dealing with chronic pain and fatigue and a boy who has been in a toxic relationship and how they find their way back into having a meaningful relationship. Amazing narration and superb story writing🙂

Nice to read about diversity

Wasn't all that keen on the narrator. Didn't stop e from wanting to know what happened next. Enjoyed that it had diverse content.

Great book

As someone that avoids reading romance because of the predictable tropes and because I am very very single I was pleasantly suprised with the book. The characters and their development were realistic and not rushed and it was also a good laugh. I wasn’t a massive fan of the audio book however. So I settled on just reading the book early on. But it doesn’t take away from how great the book was.

Enjoyed it much much more than I expected to. The narrator was really good and the storyline interesting and fun, while also dealing with some serious topics.

Meh

In spite of the unusual heroine it's a pretty formulaic story. Plus they needed a male to narrate the male bits because the female narrator doing the male voice was way unsexy!

Fun read

The narrator for this book was great and engaging. A light fun read! I enjoyed Chloe's list and her ticking things off the list. Enjoy!

Not the most exciting romance

This book was pretty good. Charming set up and meeting, but the characters were a bit one dimensional and I felt like nothing happened for the entire second half of the book. The narrator also was not quite suited to the characters - Chloe sounded quite old and Red sounded like Mrs Tweedy from chicken run. So overall, not bad but not great

Read the book

The story was great but the narrator’s style didn’t match the vibe/tone of the book which made it difficult to connect with the characters. I think I would have enjoyed it more had I read the physical book (as opposed to listening to the audiobook).

Sexy, funny but a bit grating

To give the narrator full credit: they had a lot of voices to do and made all of them easily distinguishable which is impressive.

To give the author full credit: her depiction of what it’s like to exist with chronic pain and all the truly awful coping strategies you cling to for survival and then have to slowly pry off like barnacles in order to resume actually living your life was one of the most accurate I’ve ever read. Representation that is good, like this, is so important to me, especially around the challenges that come with having a disability and having a relationship.

Sadly, for me, the combination between some of those voices and some of the words the author gave those characters made it very hard for me to ever really invest in either Red or Chloe. At times, they were both very nerve grating because they whine or are crasser than sailors waiting for shore leave. So even though at times I found myself laughing out loud, it’s not a book I’ll savour or read again.

Lovely, heart-warming and V steamy.

This book is beautiful. Talia did a wonderful job at looking at the intricacies of forming relationships and starting over after coming out of a toxic relationship or living with a chronic illness. Chloe and Red journey from enemies to lovers is like chicken soup for my single ass soul. Thanks Talia for a great read!
