Publisher's summary
I am the gaslighter with the ulterior motives and the agenda you don’t know about. I am the one who collected intel on you before we ever met. I am the one who hacked your accounts and let you log on to my computer, so I could get all your passwords. I am the one who spies on you and knows where you are at all times. Thanks to the electronics that are out there these days, I can always spy on your position.
Did you know what?
Of course, you didn’t because you don’t think like a predator. You don’t think like me.
I am the one who watched all the sappy love stories, so I could practice being more like them. I am the one who listened to you so that I could memorize all the things you like to do and the foods you like to eat. I always remember your favorite dish. I remember how you like your coffee. I remember these things because I want to pretend that I am on your side.
I laugh when you laugh. I cry when you cry. I watch all your cues so that I can get emotional at the same point in the movie where you get emotional. I know that I’m not emotional like you. I know that I’m not wired like you. My brain has been different from yours since birth. If I treat you like I don’t like you, however, you won’t see that. You will keep seeing that we are alike because I faked that we were.
I painted the picture of our happily ever after. I gave you glimpses of it here and there because I know you like that. I gave you glimpses of your happily ever after when I wanted extra things from you. I gave you glimpses of it like it was the key to unlocking all your resources...because it was. I gave you glimpses of that fantasy in your head, too.

Story
In How We Can Win, Jones delves into the impacts of systemic racism and reveals how her formative years in Chicago gave birth to a lifelong devotion to justice. Here, in a vital expansion of her declaration, she calls for Reconstruction 2.0, a multilayered plan to reclaim economic and social restitutions - those restitutions promised with emancipation but blocked, again and again, for more than 150 years. And, most of all, Jones delivers strategies for how we can effect change as citizens and allies while nurturing ourselves in the fight against a system that is still rigged.

Story
For the first time, Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor speaks directly to his fans and shares his worldview about life as a sinner. And Taylor knows how to sin. As a small-town hero in the early '90s, he threw himself into a fierce-drinking, drug-abusing, hard-loving, live-for-the-moment life. Soon Taylor's music exploded, and he found himself rich, wanted, and on the road. His new and ever-more-extreme lifestyle had an unexpected effect, however; for the first time, he began to actively think about what it meant to sin.

Story
With Normal Gets You Nowhere, Kelly Cutrone invites us to get our freak on. History is full of successful, world-changing people who did not fit in. Think Nelson Mandela, Joan of Arc, Eleanor Roosevelt, Amelia Earhart, John Lennon, and Rosa Parks. Instead of changing themselves to accommodate the status quo or what others thought they should be, these people hung a light on their differences - and changed humanity in the process. “I know you don’t feel normal, so why are you trying to act it and prove to everyone you are?” Cutrone says.

I only wish it was longer.
I toyed with spending a whole credit on this book since it is so short but I'm glad I did. This author hit the nail on the head. I've been in this situation more times than I can count, unfortunately. And it is written in first person, as if she is the narcissist talking about her or himself and what makes them tick, as well as why they are like they are. I truly enjoyed this!
