Publisher's Summary

Training Ground, book one of the Girls of Summer series, introduced Emma Blakeley and Jamie Maxwell, two young athletes with seemingly bright soccer futures. Now, in book two, those futures are upon them.

It’s late 2013, and the world’s best soccer players are gearing up for the 2015 World Cup. In London, Jamie has just completed her third year as a professional footballer at Arsenal Ladies F. C. Only one soccer dream still eludes her: a spot on the US women’s national team.

Emma, a national team regular, has recently moved back to Seattle to play professionally in the NWSL, the latest incarnation of an American women’s pro soccer league. When the list of players invited to the latest national team training camp is released, Emma is uneasy to find Jamie’s name on the roster. As pro soccer players, they have crossed paths before, but they haven’t spent this much time together since high school.

Jamie, meanwhile, would do almost anything to earn the chance to play for her country at the highest level. Even if she had to share a room with Emma at team residency camp. Both women are hoping it doesn’t come to that.

Join Jamie and Emma for the latest installment in the ongoing story of their lives, loves, and would-be world championships in Game Time, book two of the best-selling Girls of Summer series.

Whole lotta angst for no sex

This book includes a ridiculous amount of phone calls and yearning, but very little action. There's not even much soccer description. It's otherwise well written - it just frustrates because it goes nowhere.

Better

So much better than the first Girls of Summer IMO. I almost didn’t listen to this one because I disliked the first so much. I don’t like romances where there is not a happy ending! I will now definitely listen to the 3rd installment In this series.

loved it!

Such an enthralling story, that I couldn't stay away for long.

The author has weaved another fantastic story that covers just a short period of time, but it flows superbly. You can feel the highs and lows of the protagonists.

The narrator has done yet another fantastic job telling the story. Keeping the voices of character distinct and conveys their feelings well.

true romance

it's rare in this genre that at least one chapter has a full on sexual encounter, there are lots of references of course, but it's really GOOD to have a pure romance series, and so good I hadn't even noticed in book one.
the continuing story of our mcs now in thier 20s has me binge reading for more, and I'll be straight into book 3 next.

Superb continuation

Emma and Jamie and fast becoming one of my favourite lesfic couples in this continuation of their relationship. As a massive football fan in the UK , the story is fab. Narration again is superb.
Can’t find book 3 on Audible UK though :(
