Adam “Mack” Mackey vowed to never return to the family who betrayed him. Needing to forget and start over, the ex-Union officer accepted a deputy job in the Montana Territory. The new start offered satisfaction, purpose, and much needed peace. His nights with the women in Splendor saloons provided companionship. Historical romance that seems timeless!
This is a book that takes place in the 1800's, partially in Scotland and partially in Montana. Brenna travels from Scotland to Montana after the death of her parents to find family members she had not previously known existed. She meets Ethan Gallagher fresh off the stagecoach and is taken in by his family. She stays with them throughout her search, which turns dangerous and she and Ethan develop strong feelings for each other. Ethan has been hurt by a woman before and is hesitant to give his heart to Brenna.
The story contains several plot twists that keep it interesting and had me going back for more. The narration by Alan Philip Ormond was superb. I loved the Scottish accent and I think it probably added quite a bit to my enjoyment of the book.
I was given this audio book free in exchange for an honest review.

Sweet Romance & Exciting Story
Gallagher's Pride is the first book I have read by MK McClintock. I purchase the Kindle book a few years ago, but just never got around to reading it. I won the audio version a few months ago, and decided to give it a listen. Gallagher's Pride is one of those books that I wish I had read or listened to sooner.
I enjoyed the story immensely, and I loved the characters! I enjoy watching westerns on television, but never thought I would enjoy reading or listening to one. I think that may be why I put off reading this book for so long.
Brenna Cameron is a headstrong woman, and she is a Scot. Those two things made me like her right off the bat. Soon after her father dies, Brenna thinks she is alone in the world with no living relatives. She soon discovers that she has family in Montana, so off she goes to Montana by herself.
Once in Montana Brenna has a run in with a few unsavory characters, but she is no timid little miss. She stands her ground, only to have Ethan Gallaher come to her rescue. She is not sure how she feels about this, but something about him makes her trust Ethan.
Brenna finally meets Nathan Hunter, her grandfather, and understands why her mother and father never spoke of him to her. He is a mean and cruel man, and has no desire to be a grandfather.
Gallagher's Pride is not a long book. The audio book is only about 6 hours long, but in this short period of time the author made me care about what happened to the characters. I felt invested in the story, and the plot. The secondary characters, Maybell (house keeper, and cook, but more like family), and Ethan's brothers made the story that much more enjoyable.
The narrator of the audible version is Alan Phillip Ormond, and he does an excellent job of narrating the story. When you listen to an audio book, and the narrator is a good one, it makes the story come to life. Well, at least it does for me. He doesn't speak to fast, and I wasn't bothered at all when he did the female voices. That is a big plus!
I will warn you though before you start reading this book, or listening to the audio version, that the story ends without resolving a few of the story lines. I wasn't too upset by that (I would have been normally), because I had the audible version of the 2nd book, Gallagher's Hope. If cliffhangers bother you, I recommend getting the 2nd book immediately.
This book does have some profanity in (damn, hell), but none are are vulgar. I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys western romances, real cowboys, beautiful scenery. This book had just the right amount of excitement to keep you listening.
I won an Audible copy of this audible book in a contest from the author. All opinions and thoughts in this review are my own.

Love the Gallaghers!
Brennan leaves Scotland to confront the grandfather who has greatly impacted her life though she has never met him. Ethan's family has been in a constant battle with that same grandfather and just wants peace. Somehow, with all of the conflict, still, trust, loyalty, and love stand firm in this epic series. Join the Gallagher family as they fight for their lives, their land and for one another.
MK McClintock has a winner with this book! She really hit it out of the ballpark by having Alan Philip Ormond narrate! He brings life and character to this book.

Good blend of Romance and Suspense.
Brianna is a strong Scottish lass who thinks she is alone until her dying father tells her of her mother's parents in America. Apparently her grandfather disowned her mother when she married her Scottish father instead of the fiance her controlling father had picked for her. Armed with a letter rejecting her mother and children, Brianna heads to America for answers.
Brianna arrives in rough Montana where her PI located her grandparents. She is lucky to meet Ethan Gallagher and his brother when she is accosted by a leering drunk right after stepping off the stagecoach. Brianna is invited to stay at the Gallagher ranch with their sister and housekeeper to keep things respectable. Little does she know that the ranch borders her grandfather and the relationship between the two families are strained at best.
Brianna learns that her grandfather is a mean and bitter man who drove off his own wife. She decides to follow the path of her grandmother in case she can be found. That quest sets off events of suspense and danger, including kidnapping and a shootout.
As they travel, Ethan begins to see a remarkable strength and bravery in Brianna. He might be interested if only he can get past the betrayal of his former fiancé who was found with another man the eve of their wedding. Brianna is falling for Ethan but she won’t accept less than a full commitment.
This is a charming story with characters I really liked. There is a little mystery and suspense to fill out the romance which is on the edge of sweet (simmering, as noted). Ethan’s siblings are lively characters and I am sure there are more good stories coming for the family. I recommend this to readers who enjoy warm, historical romance.
Audio Notes: I enjoyed the rich accents of the narrator, Alan Philip Ormond. He captures the Scottish brogue and good old country Midwest. The narration enhanced my enjoyment of the story.
