Story
They were the Savages. Raiders from our distant past. Elites who left Earth to create tailor-made utopias aboard the massive lighthuggers that crawled through the darkness between the stars. But the people they left behind on a dying planet didn't perish in the dystopian nightmare the Savages had themselves created: they thrived, discovering faster-than-light technology and using it to colonize the galaxy ahead of the Savages, forming fantastic new civilizations that surpassed the wildest dreams of Old Earth.

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

My name is Kazimir Wolfe. People call me "Kaz", except they don’t. I never use my real name; it’s too dangerous, for me and for anyone I meet. I’m on the run from the law, who think I killed my aunt, and from whoever did kill her, because they want to finish the job. So, I move around a lot, working construction or whatever job I can find. It’s a lonely life. I don’t let anyone get close...people who get close to me end up dead. Why? I’m a wizard. The world’s only wizard, as far as I know.

Story
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

With his combat AI, an android bird named Perry, Van takes his first steps into the wider galaxy. He soon finds that space is far busier and more dangerous than he could have ever conceived.

Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Story
The Troubles. A quaint name for a horrific period in the galaxy's history. A period whose atrocities were superseded only by the terror of the Savage Wars that had come before. Almost no corner of the galaxy was spared a taste of terrible war, cutthroat intrigue… and remorseless death. In the aftermath, this battered galaxy now longs for peace and stability. The Republic, now reformed, seeks to govern by the rule of law. But no matter how sincere the reform, how earnest and well-meaning the ruler, some worlds refuse to place their destiny in the hands of others. Ever again.

bit of a disconnect between parts
this is a good space adventure but there seemed to be quite a disconnect between part one and part two. it takes a while to catch up and the ending leaves you hanging. obviously there has to be more book forthcoming but I feel as though there should have been a bridge between the two parts. the narration is masterful although he used his Skippy voice for a truly dreadful character in this book. and if you know Bray you should know about Skippy the meh by now.

More than you Bargained for.
Galaxy's Edge "Book 1", consisting of "Legionnaire" and "Galactic Outlaws", came as a recommended listen by Audible a few months ago and I thought, "why not?" Part of me still wishes I had never listened to this book. However, this is not for the reason you think (obviously from the star rating). I wish I had not started because now I cannot stop.
The story starts focused on boots-on-the-ground military forces that are seeking to add another desert planet's support to the Republic through diplomacy, but things go awry. Quickly. A battle ensues between the natives and the military force, dictated from the point of view of Chuun who is a leader of a Legionnaire squad, the most elite soldiers in the galaxy. The leejes try to make sense of what caused the turmoil and confusion as well as survive, not knowing who to trust besides those fighting shoulder-to-shoulder with them.
The characters begin to feel personable, beyond just cookie-cutter military tropes we see over and over, especially through the narration of R.C. Bray, who brings life and intimacy to them and the story. Seriously, the man seems to know exactly how the authors wanted the characters to be portrayed.
What is truly impressive and appreciated in the novels are that the tactical and gritty details of the novel were clearly inspired through research and a desire to encapsulate what it is like to be caught behind enemy lines. And this is just the first half of the audiobook! Jason Anspach and Nick Cole had me hooked from this gripping new take at Military Sci-Fi with the story of Victory, but then they had to go and write more...
That is when things became problematic as now I cannot stop reading and listening. Each installment shows that the authors are creating an entire universe that keeps surprising but does not feel played-out. While they do have clear inspiration from other Sci-Fi sagas (*cough* Star Wars), Galaxy's Edge comes off as its own major player, and dare I say, contender, to be one of the greatest Sci-Fi Sagas.
This is the first review I have ever written, at least more than the obligatory 15 words, as I feel it is absolutely necessary that this book, and this series, get all the praise and acclaim that it deserves. Well done Nick Cole and Jason Anspach! If you need me I will be writing reviews on all the other novels in Galaxy's Edge, all of which improve upon the last. KTF!

As scrambled as Rex’s Memories
This book was all over the place in time, stories, flashbacks, character development, character devolution, numerous subplots, and left a lot of questions to be answered. R.C. Bray did an outstanding performance and this book series has a lot of promise; however, this particular book seems thrown together. It really reminds me of an amalgamation of Halo, Warhammer 40k, Starcraft, EVE, and Stephen Sommer’s The Mummy Trilogy. To be honest, I’m not 100% sure how I feel about this book. I want to like it, but it’s a hate/love relationship at the moment. Get it if you like sci-fi, stay away if your OCD about storylines.

War never changes.
QR: Great war story, dark humor, good first person.
From the first 10 minutes in you'll be hooked, RC Bray voices this war story perfectly. If you've ever served, you'll catch a lot of references that'll make you laugh. Even if you haven't, there is just the slightest bit of dark humor to keep the action moving. I would highly recommend it if your looking for that action book fix.

I wanted to love this, but . . .
I've listened to hundreds of audiobooks, but this is the first time I've felt compelled to write a review. Audible kept recommending Galaxy's Edge for me, R.C. Bray is a narrator I enjoy, and at 17+ hours it was a good value for the credit. What could go wrong? But for some reason, I just couldn't enjoy this -- or even follow the story at some points. The characters are so thinly sketched that it was difficult for me to identify or empathize with any of them -- or even keep track. (It reminds me of Star Wars in that way, which seems to be the type of universe the authors were hoping to evoke.) As other reviewers have pointed out, there's a disconnect between the two parts, although that's the least of the problems. If you like compelling characters, you won't find them here. If you get confused about continuity when listening to audiobooks (as I sometimes do), don't buy this book. But is it worth one credit? Probably. I'm on the fence.

How did this get so many positive reviews?
I love sci-fi, military stories are fine, and R. C. Bray is great, but even he couldn’t save this mess. I only made it half way through the book, but I gave up because it was one of the rare cases where I just did't even want to continue. There is no real character development, so there wasn’t anyone to really identify with or care about. The ‘story’ has been shallow at best - one fight/battle scene after another. I gave up hoping it would get better. Even on sale it wasn’t worth it.
