After five years of tracking and capturing spies on English soil, Philip Jonquil, Earl of Lampton, is in pursuit of his last quarry. In the midst of this waning war and growing attraction, Philip catches wind of the French spy he’s been tracking, and Sorrel inadvertently stumbles upon a crucial piece of the puzzle, making her indispensable to the mission. But can two proud hearts negotiate a ceasefire when cooperation matters most?

cringeworthy misunderstandings overcome

I did enjoy this story. That being said, there were moments when Philip in his dandy guise was so hurtful and dense I cringed. I have an invisible disability, and I have definitely encountered people who say things that are hurtful that they regretted saying once they knew, and it's a crappy feeling. I wish people would just be less critical in general. I felt like Sorrel was more forgiving than I have been. I don't think I could ever connect romantically to someone who said such hurtful things. Even though Philip did not know he was picking at her disability, he was still picking at her for no reason. Yes, it fit his disguise persona, but it was still more awful than it needed to be. I also worry more about these two than Eden's other couples I have read so far, because they have communication issues that we didn't see resolved.

This book was a great read. The characters both learned valuable lessons and the clean romance with heroism was great.

I absolutely loved Sorrel and Philip! Their romance was so fun. The side characters were well written and enjoyable too
