Comprehensive vocabulary, a great experience

I really enjoyed this audiobook! Beautiful voices, first off. It pretty much covers all the vocabulary you will need "to travel in France with confidence." You need to know the basics of French first, though, since it doesn't go through any grammar review. This is for a beginning-to-intermediate student wanting to acquire vocabulary and usage.

The reason why I gave it only 4 stars in performance is because sometimes the English translations are grammatically funky or mispronounced. But hey, it'll help you get used to understanding a French accent!

One of my favorite features of this book is its layout. First you can listen to the Fr/En recordings by Mariem Nouni to learn the material. Then you can use Frederic Bibard's recordings (the same words in French only!) as flashcards to see if you can understand the French without using English as a crutch. He even shows all the different ways you can pronounce one word. Great job, guys!

Great book to learn French

“French Phrasebook: +1400 Phrases to Travel in France with Confidence” is a great audiobook to learn French. I have never taken French, but I have always been interested. This short book definitively helped me learn words and phrases in French. I really appreciated the repetition of words and phrases since it helps with the learning process. I also enjoyed that the book contains everything you could need to establish conversations, get directions, indicate places to visit or sightseen, among many other useful words. This audible version allows you to not only learn a word but also its pronunciation and how/when to use it. I highly recommend this book.

Great Refresher

I have studied French for 6 years- 2 years in high school and 4 years in college. I found that this audible was very helpful as a refresher since I haven't spoken French or practiced it for 3 years since I started medical school. The people who were saying and translating the phrases were very clear and helpful. If you put it in the time to practice and repeat with them, it would definitely help.

such a great resource to have

I used to study French by myself using various online resources for a few months but I had given up because I couldn't pronounce ANY words correctly. This audiobook has been a tremendous help in teaching me how to pronounce each word correctly and thanks to this audiobook, I am going to resume learning French! This audiobook comes with a PDF which entails both the transcript of the audiobook and the pronunciation of every word/phrase. It is a great resource for anyone learning French and for anyone who wants to learn it correctly. Highly recommended!

Perfect way to learn french

I have taken some French lessons before but nothing as easy and thorough as this. I have gained a wealth of the French language. It makes the whole learning process easy and efficient.  It offers everything that I need to speak as much French as I want. I have learned so many vocabulary words, phrases, and proper pronouncing of the French language.

This audio book is a very good source for someone like me, looking to pick up phrases and words in French. It offers everything that you will need to have the confidence to speak French without error. It is a fantastic approach to learn and speak French for beginners or someone looking to brush up on the French language as I was.

It has complete words and phrases that are spoken clearly in French and then followed by the pronunciation in English.  It definitely adds a enormous French vocabulary to your learning. It allows you to be able to play and rewind or fast forward if needed. You can also stop and continue where you left off. It has a bookmark feature that is complementary. You can skip whole chapters if you desire as well for your convenience.

This audiobook was worth my time!

A handy guide for tourists.

This book is perfect for a handy guide while traveling in France. It has a written guide for visual learners as well as being able to hear the way each word or phrase is said. This means you will be able to properly pronounce the words. I especially liked that it included a section on food and food allergies. Those who suffer from food allergies will be able to eat safely while traveling in another country.

Fast paced yet easy to follow along

Before this book, my background with the French language was very limited. I've never had the chance to take French as a school course growing up, but have been interested in learning to be able to at least understand and use a few conversational phrases. In the past I have tried a phone app as well as a free online course but never really stuck with it and the reading material wasn't readily available once completed.

After beginning this book on audible, I found it extremely helpful that there was a PDF version you could either use to follow along or use on it's own. The PDF also had a vast amount of extra information to better assist with understanding that wasn't talked about in the audio. The pace of the audio was a bit fast paced for a beginner like me, but I feel having the PDF available was a huge help. The amount of phrases and usefulness of the phrases would definitely come in handy to those who have the need to speak the language, but it's also a great tool for a beginner to go through as well.

Great!

This French phrase book is a great find for both experts and novices. It has a very simple but effective method of repetition and moves at just the right pace so the listener can keep up without getting bored. The phrases are all basics you would need to know if you traveled to a French speaking country. So, you get every topic from asking for directions to going through customs. Overall this is a great find!

Comprehensive and to the point.

What made the experience of listening to French Phrasebook the most enjoyable?

Being an illustrator and having gone through major surgery, one might assume I don't exactly have time to keep time to keep my French language skills as proficient as i'd like it to be despite occasionally using other language learning opportunities like Duolingo and My aunt in Quebec and friend near Versailles.

This book however, provided a quick and for the most part well organized way to immerse myself once again into the language, and I was pleasantly surprised the breadth of the topics covered, certainly enough for any tourist to get by if you're planning for a visit to Montreal, Paris or any French speaking territory. The reason i'm giving the performance a lower score is that

1. The english translation can occasionally be a little awkward and
2. I don't know if this is an audible issue but if the chapters were labeled by what content was in them, it'd be easier for someone who was maybe in a rush to get right to the phrases they might need at that moment.

Overall, this book cuts right to the chase, and I think it'd be a good asset for beginners in a rush and intermediates that need a brush up.

Very helpful for French conversation!

What did you love best about French Phrasebook?

I took French in college for two years, and even with that formal education, I've struggled with listening to and talking in French. I'm generally much better at reading and writing. Having a book like this was really helpful in reacquainting myself with the French language at my own pace.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The voice speaking the French words was always very soothing and relaxed. I appreciated the pace the speaker took in giving the French word and English translation. It made it very easy to follow along and practice on my own.

What does Mariem Nouni and Frederic Bibard bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Having this phrasebook as an audio book available to download for my smartphone, I can confidently go into studying French knowing I'm hearing the correct pronunciations and learning French beyond just reading it. I love being able to have a French "tutor" with me wherever I go, and the vocabulary included definitely will be helpful as a foundation to start from!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I felt very reassured and comfortable with this phrasebook. Unlike a classroom or more formal setting, where saying things out loud might make you feel uneasy if you do it wrong, I really loved the experience of independent study with this phrasebook for the time and patience it allows to really understand and learn French. I also found this more helpful than other language-learning apps I've tried because I can also be doing other works and tasks and still expose myself to French. Very user-friendly!

Any additional comments?

Overall, if you've studied French in the past and need a refresher, or you haven't studied French before and would love to get the basics down, this phrasebook on Audible is very helpful, and I highly recommend it. You can take it with you wherever you go, free of judgment, and learn at your own pace.
