Publisher's summary

Freedom from Distress and Anxiety. Your eight-week program combines the two most powerful techniques to bring about the changes in your mind, your brain, and your body that are required to free you from unnecessary distress and anxiety: hypnotherapy and mindfulness meditation.

Each of the sessions is designed for busy people, quickly and easily providing you with the foundation that you require to be free from distress and anxiety. Hypnosis has been used for centuries to bring about changes, allowing surgeries to be performed without chemical anesthesia and to change a variety of habits and dysfunctions.

Mindfulness meditation has its roots in practices thousands of years old, and over the past 40 years Western psychology has adopted and studied at great length the impact of these practices when combined with traditional therapies. The results are so consistent: Add these techniques, and often double the effectiveness.

Over the next eight weeks, you will literally and figuratively change the wiring in your brain, a process known as experience-dependent neuroplasticity. As the physical changes take place in your brain, your mind and your body will react differently to stimuli. That is the definition of change.

Think of a railroad track. As long as the intersections remain the same, every train following that route must go exactly the same way. If you change the intersection, throw the switch to connect two different tracks, then every train that follows will proceed in the new direction.

The perfect voice for relaxing

Would you listen to Freedom from Distress and Anxiety again? Why?

I listen to it all the time. Even though he suggests that we develop our independent skills for meditation, I still prefer his guided meditations, I bought his audiobook 10 Supplemental Mindfulness Meditations too.

Which scene was your favorite?

I like the breath meditation

What did you learn from Freedom from Distress and Anxiety that you would use in your daily life?

I have spent my whole adult life stressed out, from college to kids to work to just about everything - it's so much easier now to just focus on my breathing for a moment and I get some distance - it isn't so intense and quite often solutions occur to me that I was just too stressed to notice before.

Much more relaxed

I was talking in my sleep and driving my husband nuts. Hadn't even planned on fixing that but it isn't a problem any more.
