Publisher's Summary

Inside a maximum-security prison cell, Abby Maddox is serving 20 years for slashing Seattle PD officer Jerry Isaac's throat during the harrowing capture of her former lover, serial killer Ethan Wolfe. To the demented fans, lunatics, and creeps on the outside, she is a celebrity. But to Jerry, now a private investigator whose scarred neck and tortured speech are daily reminders of Abby's vicious attack, she alone may be the key to solving a new wave of murders. Because this killer has been sending her love letters, and carving a message on the victims' bodies: Free Abby Maddox.

With the help of intuitive criminology student Danny Mercy, Puget Sound State professor Sheila Tao, and seasoned detective Mike Torrance, Jerry must coax the shattering truth from isolated, dangerous Abby - before her number one fan takes another life in the name of a killer's perverted idea of justice.

Boring

I bought Jar of Hearts and really enjoyed it. I immediately downloaded another book by Jennifer Hiller and I could not get through the first few chapters. I did not like the book, or the narrator. I tried returning it less than 24 hours later and I was unable to. Very disapointing since I download up to 4 books a month.

Somewhat predictable

This is the only book I have listened to from Jennifer Hillier. I didn't listen to the first and found unless I wanted more of the back story to some of the characters I didn't need to. It stood on it's own. The book was entertaining and overall it kept my interest but it was somewhat predictable. I had figured out half way thru who was helping the killer achieve what she was trying to achieve. I found it somewhat irritating that the woman behind bars, 'Abby', was involved in several different relationships, with different sexes, who would virtually risk their jobs because of wanting to please her. So that had me at the 'oh geez' once or twice. The narrator is OK. She did her best to perform the book just found the male characters grating on my nerves but essentially I find most female narrators giving me that same reaction. Was good. I don't have any desire to listen to the first book tho. That might say something. So perhaps if you are looking to get into a series, you should start there.

Might not be able to finish this!

How could the performance have been better?

I just bought this and like the story line.

The narrator doing Jerry is soooooo irritating! A woman portraying a man with a throat/voice injury! I am trying to keep listening, I paid for it, I want to hear the story - hopefully his part gets smaller...

Loved it

An excellent sequel to Creep I highly recommend. I really enjoyed the story line and it kept my attention the whole time. I really like this narrator and her performance in both books. I know a lot of people disliked how she voiced jerry but I thought it was bearable considering his injury

It was ok

First one was better, but the worst part of this book was making the narrator talk like jerry with a slit throat!!! Soooo annoying

Good Story; Questionable Narration.

I really like the author and she does a good job telling a story. I did like this one but it fell just a little bit short of my expectations only because I felt the author could have fleshed out the characters just a little bit more. But overall it was a good story. As for the narrator, she had her moments in which she sold the story very well but it appears she has challenges in speaking certain phrases. I'm not sure if it's a struggle working around dental work or recovery from a stroke or perhaps some other issue but it was distracting at times. I'm looking forward to the next installment, however, and I do hope the narration improves.
