Mary Shelley wished with her classic Gothic novel Frankenstein to "make the reader dread to look round, to curdle the blood, and quicken the beatings of the heart". Mary Shelley succeeded.
Victor Frankenstein finally fulfills his dream of creating his own living creature, stitched together from the macabre remains of corpses. To his horror he finds he has created something even more ghastly than in his worst imaginings. Frankenstein has created a monster with a soul!

Yes, and have in fact recommended it.What does Daniela Acitelli bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Daniela Acitelli brings a female perspective to a story that has been predominantly male-centric. She gives each character warmth and acts out the scenes, giving the reader a truly emotional experience.Any additional comments?
Everyone is familiar with the story of Frankenstein. We've read the book, watched the films, but listening to the audio version of this classic gives the story another dimension. This was a joy to listen to.Superb narration of a timeless classic

It is amazing that a woman in the 1800's would write such a book and that makes it even more enjoyable. Ms. Shelley has a wonderful writing style and it really draws the reader into the story. The vocabulary is different and more flowery than a modern reader is used to, but it is very, very well written.
This book is much more than a horror story There is such profound poignancy and sorrow throughout that it makes your heart hurt for the characters. I must admit that since I have seen so many movie adaptations of this book that some of the scenes were called to mind as I listened (and "Young Frankenstein" was one of them!).
The narrator, Daniela Acitelli, does a wonderful job and really puts a lot of emotion into her performance. It added a lot to the heavy emotions in the book. My only complaint is that the speed of the book was a little slow for my taste, but increasing my listening speed up to 1.25x made it perfect!
I was given the opportunity to listen to this audiobook by Audiobook Boom! and chose to review it.

Way ahead of her times, Mary Shelley was able to convey in her masterpiece the torment of a misunderstood creature brought to violence by a society that doesn't know how to accept the out of the ordinary, a concept that unfortunately resonates in the times we live in. What should have been a gentle and loving creature, has been transformed in a monster by cruelty and bigotry. All masterfully told by the author in her spell-binding prose. 200 years later Shelley's work, is more than ever a must read. Excellent with 5 stars. The interpretation by the narrator is also perfect!
Great Interpretation of an Ageless Classic
