This book describes Four Generations through the eyes of it's women.

* Gertrude’s daughter, Mary Pahmeyer cared for her younger siblings while her mother worked. With little formal learning she amassed an impressive residential real estate portfolio at a time when banks required her husband to co-sign for loans.
* Mary’s daughter Bertha Tapman, despondent over her younger brother’s death left high school to collect her mother’s rent revenue. A woman doctor who leased one of their properties influenced Bertha too, to become a doctor.
* Bertha’s accomplished daughters’ Peg Petersen Quigley and Miriam Shamer Daly continue their families stories into the 21st Century.
