Publisher's summary

After big-time Hemingway fan Jack Phelan falls into a coma following an accident, he somehow finds himself in Key West, Florida, rubbing shoulders with his longtime hero. The legendary author has been sent down by "the main man in the clouds" to find out if Jack has what it takes to write a book for him. And though Hemingway knows his decision may very well determine whether or not Jack comes out of his coma, he doesn't have a clue that the book is going to be about him.

During the next four days, Jack and Hem not only knock around Key West, but they also travel to more of the legendary author's old haunts. Together the two meet up with many of Hemingway's long-gone friends and have some rollicking good times. But it's not all fun and games. Hem and Jack both find themselves facing highly-emotional tests of strength as well.

Good idea, but terrible dialogue & narration

What disappointed you about Four Days with Hemingway's Ghost?

I wanted so much to love this book, I love Hemingway, and stories/history/historical fiction, especially about about Cuba and the Keys. Unfortunately it was disappointing. The dialogue could have been written by a junior high student. Actually, the entire story could have been written by anyone with a cursory knowledge of Hemingway and his life. Really disappointed.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

More real dialogue. Does any fisherman really say, "I, too, enjoy fishing"? The dialogue is too simple.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Patrick Nolan?

The narrator's Hem voice sounded like Hulk Hogan... or any 1980s/1990s WWF/WWE wrestler. Other than that he was good enough.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Very disappointed,

Any additional comments?

It is like the book was written for middle school kids to read as Hem background or something, I don't know, maybe I am spoiled by Crichton and GRRM books, which are insanely intelligent reads with incredible dialogue and character development.
