Publisher's Summary

Alex has taken firm control over his county as the Count of Brit. By and large, everything has settled into a fairly normal pattern for him, his numbered, and his wife.

The problem, of course, is there's still an ongoing war between two duchies, and Regina Tannulf, Alex's liege and lord, has plans for him.

Plans that he wants no part of. Except that he doesn't really have a choice in the matter.

Everything begins to spin back out of control as a messenger from the Wild Lands arrives with a plea for help.

It’s time for Alex to get back to work. Leah still owns his soul, and if he wants to keep it safe, he needs to make deals in his favor, in her name.

Warning: This novel explores dark subjects, and what people will give up of themselves, and each other, to get what they want. The main character is written as a real person in a tough situation and will not make choices that line up with societal and cultural norms.

It contains adult themes and moral ambiguities.

As with my previous work, explicit scenes are found within. It has violence and a harem relationship.

great work as always

randi darren once again manages a compelling and interesting story that keeps both the mind and body "active" without being entirely about adult content. his examination of relationships between broken people are insightful and understanding and shine through in this novel.

Better and Better

If possible the second book is better than the first. It expanded on the numbers without going crazy and getting the reader lost. I was a bit worried when Alex was put in not the greatest situation but Randi managed it without being terribly jarring to what we'd like to go on with his numbers in private. Though I must say the more we hear about Anna, the more I love her. Between her and 3 it's a wonder he's not a Duke yet. Well done story indeed!

Fun, slightly less that Vanilla story

This was a great listen, and plays with certain fantasies that aren't quite as vanilla as most other stories like this. It's nice to see an author explore those topics and explore the fantasy while not making it...forced for lack of a better term. All in all though, great read and I look forward to the next one in the series.

Real fun and thought provoking

I read book one not knowing what to expect then loved, this book was even better, lots of strategic planning and conspiracies that kept me on my toes.

Sufficiently naughty and rife with intrigue!

This series is definitely a guilty pleasure. I listened to the first book and felt just a little icky at the premise, but couldn't help but finish it within about 3 days because it's SO WELL WRITTEN! When I saw the second book, it was an insta-buy. Randi Darren does such an amazing job with the character development of Alex, his wives, and his numbered. Each character feels authentic in how they grow into their roles. The salaciousness of the deals that they inflict upon themselves (while always having an out to say no with absolutely no repercussions) in this book pushes the boundaries even a little bit farther than the first in the series without ever really crossing "the line" for me.

What I really enjoyed about the book most was actually the political intrigue. Alex finds himself in a pretty sticky spot (pun quasi-intended) and has to do a hefty amount of maneuvering to not only keep Leah happy but also keep his head attached to his neck.

If you liked the first book, you'll absolutely enjoy the follow-up.

A great and excellently narrated sequel.

I really enjoyed listening to this story. I liked the power games and scheming that unfolded as the story progeessed. The multiple relationships developed in this story are meaningful despite it being a Harem story which is impressive.

With that out of the way I must say that the narrator, Stephanie Savannah, sold it so well. To the point that I went looking for other fantasy books of this type that she has narrated and was disappointed when they weren't that many. I look forward to her getting more roles like this in the future, this story would not have been as enjoyable without the life and personality her voice and tones brought to each character.

Repetitive.

The contract thing is too easy yo use and abuse adding on to the fact that you dumb down the other characters intellegence to personality traits and the fact that the enemy commander asks war advice from the guy who very nearly killed his father.... the mc feels stupid by association eve his plans are repetitive and boring, set fire = profit.....

Fostering Faust book 2

Randi Darren is one of the most talented and skilled author's . I gave this book 5 stars when I read it on kindle the world of Faust is fantastic and the characters are in depth. And with the voice acting of Stephenie Savannah who narration of the world and characters makes the story come alive. it's a great book to own and can't wait to buy the next book ..
