Publisher's Summary

IT HAS SURVIVED.

At a research station in Antarctica, scientists discovered a strange and ancient organism. They thought they could study it, classify it, control it. They couldn't.

IT HAS THRIVED

Six months ago, a secret paramilitary team called Unit 51 was sent to the station. They thought the creature was dead, the nightmare was over. It wasn't.

IT HAS EVOLVED

In a Mexican temple, archaeologists uncover the remains of a half-human hybrid. They believe it is related to the creature in Antarctica, a dark thing of legend that is still alive-and still evolving. They believe it needs a new host to feed, to mutate, to multiply. They're right. And they're next. And the human race might just be headed for extinction...

And We Thought They Were Mad 1st Time!

Excellent book. Quite a few returning characters. I have only two books by Michael McBride, but if the first in this series are any indication of the quality to come, then but them now!

Also, buy the Audible version of this if you can. I highly recommend it.

Incredibly boring

I had high hopes for this book but was very disappointed. The book was really boring. Also, there was just too much bouncing around between characters for me to keep things straight. Did not finish book.

Not For Me

Premise sounded good, but the book didn't really engage me. It starts off with the creature (in the introduction) and then drags on chapter after chapter with the group trying not to get eaten. There is some ancillary plot items thrown in, but none of it for me was suspenseful. Sorry. It just wasn't a thrill ride like some of the original Lincoln Child or Robin Cook or Michael Crichton.

I Don’t Kniw

Listened to the first book so I was mildly curious when this one showed up. But as I listened on through this book I began to lose interest. It seemed overly long, drawn out in some parts. Worse it became obvious at some points where the protagonist brag about how well security is to keep the “thing” in its enclosure that you know it will all fail so it can escape. Over all the plot seems to be getting more and more complicated. Too many threads to follow.
