An illuminating story about a individual seeking a path to independence for his Ukraine and the parallel story of the author discovering a purpose to her life in writing about that path. I knew very little about Ukraine other than what we read in the news about its war against Russia now, but this historical novel brings to life Ukraine’s struggle for independence that has been ongoing for several centuries,
