Publisher's summary

At age ten, Riley Lambert watched helplessly as her sister was abducted from her bedroom. Fifteen years later, she's channeled the pain of her past into a career as an FBI profiler. Riley devotes her life to bringing violent criminals to justice...and secretly uses government resources to search for her sister, who was never found.

When Riley gets a call from the only man who's ever swept her off her feet with a killer two-step and dangerous smile - ex-Navy SEAL Thayne Blackwood of Singing River, Wyoming - it stirs up dark memories. Thayne's sister, Cheyenne, has been kidnapped. There are no leads, and the only witness is the victim's Alzheimer's-afflicted grandmother.

Desperate to find Cheyenne, Thayne needs Riley's expertise. With time running short, they delve into dangerous small-town secrets while fighting against an increasingly ruthless adversary. But when her past and his present collide in a shocking revelation, can they overcome the secrets that have kept them apart?

Good story, sappy back story

I like mystery, but can do without the SAPPY background love story. Just not my thing. There is romance and then there’s sappy overkill. This novel had too much of the latter. I really liked the murder mystery story. I didn’t care much for the narrator. Maybe it was her voice that added to the sappy for me.

A definite FAVORITE!!!

I absolutely LOVED this book....it was fantastic!! It is definitely one of my new favorites on Audible!! I've had my eye on it for some time, but the price was less than what a credit is worth so I kept putting it off. Well, I loved it so much that I would have paid 2 credits for it...it was awesome! Not only is the storyline engaging and easy to follow, but it also bring awareness to something many families are dealing with today: Alzheimer's Disease. I learned quite a bit about Alzheimer's that I didn't know before. Also, I see on Amazon that the mother of Author Robin Perini is in the final stages of Alzheimer's, and she donates 10% of her royalties to The Alzheimer's Association. I think that is so wonderful and very brave of her to create a character who has this disease. Thank you for your courage!

This is the first book I have read/listened to by Robin Perini. If her other books are like this one, I will be reading many more! I felt like I was going through the same emotions as the characters because they were so well-developed, in my opinion. It was the first book I have listened to that made me cry, too. Yes, I admit it, I cried!! The more I listened the more I felt for these characters and their families. I'm always amazed with writers of mystery/suspense/thrillers because you get to see 1st hand how cases are solved and how every little detail is related. I know these things happen in real life, but the writing and planning of novels of this sort must really take some time and serious research! Wow! Throughout the story, I had my own ideas of what happened, but I really didn't know for sure until the end. I literally could NOT stop listening because I had to find out!!

The narrator, Lauren Ezzo, was outstanding! I loved her voice, tone, inflection, volume, pace, everything!! I feel like she sounded exactly how the characters should sound, especially Riley. I hope to hear more of her work!

Hands down, I rate this book 5/5 all around. I highly recommend this book to those who like mystery and suspense with a touch of drama and even love. It is a book about cases of kidnappings, but more so a story of the love of family, never giving up, and finding the strength (in others and yourself) to continue on.

Thank you for reading my review!! :-)

Abduction romantic suspense!

Good solid storyline, well developed characters! The pain of her sister's disappearance shaped Riley into a FBI profiler devoting her life to finding her sister! Mystery, suspense and developing romance with Thayne Blackwood! Worth the listen!!

It could have been a great thriller.

It would have been better without the romance factor which felt like a cheesy, paperback romance novel. I spent so much time rolling my eyes.
The narrator added to the cheap romance feel, but she didn't have much to work with.
There were a few times when I was very invested in the story and couldn't stop listening, and times when I had to stop because it was awful.
It could have been a great thriller, but it was a little disappointing.

I looked for a second book (sequel) and didn't find one. I loved the story that was told as well as the wonderful characters and the families I fell in love with..... please write a sequel.

Enjoyed

Enjoyed the book. It is repetitive at times but that didn't really bother me. Narrator does a good job
