Publisher's Summary

When the paths of an old cowboy and two young trespassers - one black and one white - cross, many lives are changed forever. Beauregard Lee Kelso grew up in a time of racial division and rampant prejudice. Now, at an age that is way past retirement, he struggles with decisions of his past that won't allow him peace of mind. Kevin and Leonard are looking for some good fishing in one of the pasture watering holes when they cross onto Kelso's land. This book is the winner of a 2012 Readers' Favorite Honorable mention and a Gold (first place) Award in the 2013 Indie Next Generation Award for First Novel.

Worth the listen

Beauregard grew up on a cattle ranch. His father was racist and overbearing, and Beau was witness to an event that effected him for the rest of his life. He eventually overcame his upbringing, but still struggles with how to rectify an occurrence in his past that he is haunted by. Guilt ridden, he befriends two young boys and their relationship takes a wonderful path.

This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would listen to another. This book is a wonderful story of tolerance, forgiveness, multiple “second chances”, and redemption.

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator and I would listen to another. Pavi Proczko does a wonderful job with all the voices and brings the emotion of story to life.

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.

SOME WONDERFUL LESSONS....

This is just a beautiful story of love and acceptance. I thought it was a wonderful story, and I loved it from beginning to end. There are so many lessons to be learned from those that no only came before us, but those that came after us. I hope and pray that one day we can all find a way to love each other. These days it's harder than ever, but I think these little lessons can get us closer. Thanks to both the author and narrator for a job well done. :)
