Brilliant, just brilliant!

I loved Chains, the companion book to Forge. Laurie Halse Anderson does a brilliant job of believable storytelling, incorporating accurate historical details and giving the characters believable voices and dialog. She really brought the winter camp at Valley Forge to life for me. She brought actual people, like George Washington, into the story in ways that didn't fictionalize actual history. I hope you write more historical fiction, Laurie Halse Anderson! I listened to the audio version, and loved the voice actor's telling of the story. I could listen to Tim Cain all day, and was sorry when the book was finished. Now if I could just get more than one student in my high school to read it!

Rip off

I don't know why this is happening or if anyone else is having this problem but it is only showing one chapter to listen to. Why did I pay like $17 for one chapter!?!?

You're not my friend.

Simple explanation of the problem of racism...

favorite quote:
"wouldn't you want to be free...?"
"...no,... I would know that God wanted me to be in bondage and I would not question His will."

(This was a converstaion between the black boy, Curzon, and the white boy, Eben, whose life he had saved.)

Bravo to Anderson!

The story brings us back to the colonies' planned rebellion against the British through the eyes of two slaves. The story connects to realistic events by way of references to primary documents. Cain does an incredible job portraying the characters through his voice and expression. Bravo!!!

Forge review

I thought Chains was better. But it’s still a good story. Audible did a great job reading this book.

Good book

It is a very good book. I don’t know if this version of the book is outdated, but in a few parts, the narrator is reading words that are not in the book. Not bad though and it is nothing to worry about. It’s just a little annoying after you pay money for it.

A great tale of self reliance!

Great sequel! I hope the third book is just as riveting! Definitely a good book for American Revolutionary War first person perspective.
