Publisher's summary

What would you do if you woke up young again?

Jason Richards is in his 40s, recently divorced, and hates his job, but all of that changes when he's attacked by a redheaded vampire and left for dead in a truckstop bathroom.

He soon wakes up in a mansion, surrounded by beautiful women and told he can never go home again. More importantly, he finds that his bones no longer ache, he feels amazing, and he looks like a 20-year-old kid again.

That's because he's a Ferin, a Forever Young, gifted with immortality and special abilities unlike anything he ever thought possible. With the guidance of his gorgeous female companions, Jason must learn how to survive in a world with real monsters, find and defeat the vampire who created him, and uncover the dark truth about what it means to be a Ferin.

A new take on Witches and Warlocks

For myself there were explicit sexual situations that the story really didn't need. mercifully there is a fast forward on the Audible application.
Overall a fairly good story with easily recognizable villains, heroes, and heroines.
Leo Barnabas has a wide range of voices and dialects definitely a five star narrative.

Ignore the negative reviews!

So many reviews are calling this trashy, childish, and porn like. Is there sex? Ya. Most adults have sex. There is literally a warning about it in the reviews. Is there violence? Yes. That's kinda the point. It's a war. This is not written by a child. This is a great, well written book. It's not perfectly polished, but this is clearly a good writer with a lot of potential and I can't wait to read the next book! Additionally, I personally like the narrator. I've listened to other books with the same narrator and enjoy the voice. They have enough inflection and passion with a pleasant voice to enjoy the story. Do most of the characters sound similar? Also, yes. It's written well enough that it's still easy to follow and I was able to tell a difference from the characters. This is an interesting twist on the classic vampire war book and it's a darn good book. Enjoy! :)

not bad

The story was good, there was a little too much unnecessary explicit sex for my personal tastes. It did not really Add anything useful to the story. Other than that I really enjoyed it and look forward to more books in the series.

Unique premise, but not satisfying

tl;dr - Not bad, but needs work

By the end of book one, there could have been so many things that drew the reader in...but its like the author decided they needed to keep things for later books. "Super powerful newb vamp-ish, in co-horts with 2 beautiful other vamp-ish, slaughter their way across the country, but don't want to tell him any info"

Narration isn't horrible, but the voice of one of the female characters sounds more like a whiny 22 year old man from New York. Kind of jarring when it's supposed to be a love interest.

Excellent read

Have to admit, I wasn't expecting much from this free read. Sounded interesting from the description blurb, but wow, I was truly enjoying it. Good characters, if a bit one dimensional at times, the dialog was good, sometimes great. Decent pacing too. And, the narrator didn't suck. (See what I did there, heh.)

I would give it 3.5

I've heard the narrator do a better job with females, but it was not that good at all on this book. The story was okay, but I didn't like how he would discover new ways to use his fire, and then not use it in a fight, or use it once. Like basically Lazer fire, didn't even use it, and a fire blade, uses it once. Just seems like if I were him, I'd utilize all my gifts. Makes no sense, and then there is the fight with his creator. It was just too long, and the constant babel from the guy made no sense if what was happening to him, was indeed happening. In the end, it was just okay.

Great Story

I really enjoyed the book and premise. I see there are only 3 books in the series, I hope more are written soon!

Great story

I’ve never thought of what would happen if someone didn’t completely die from a vampire attack. This is a great spin on it. I’m excited to finish the series!
