Publisher's Summary

Heiress to a vast fortune, Victoria Cole has everything she wants, including the perfect fiancé. Having left two other men at the altar, Victoria is sure that now she's found her true love and will finally live happily ever after. As her wedding draws near, however, Victoria's life is threatened. To keep her safe, Victoria's father hires a bodyguard.

Tom Cushman's number one priority is protecting his clients, which means no personal entanglements. But he's never guarded someone as beautiful and winsome as Victoria. After a near-kidnapping, the wedding is cancelled, and Tom hides Victoria at Cape Cod's Race Point Lighthouse until her attacker can be found. Appointed as assistant light keeper, with Victoria posing as his wife, Tom believes the isolation of the lighthouse will keep her safe.

As Victoria struggles to live without familiar luxuries, her heart betrays her with growing feelings for her protector. Determined to help Tom stop fleeing from his haunted past, can the runaway bride learn to face her own fears? With the attacker closing in, will both of them ever be able to stop running and find the safety they long for?

dull

The book did not hold my attention and I could not finish it. The lead female character, who had been spoiled all her life, magically transforms into this simple worker bee who whistles while she works. Yeah right.

Too much sizzle not enough substance

The narrator was fine- just didn’t particularly like the way it was read or sounded- a little too sweetsie! Also far too much sizzle and sexual innuendo for the content and even genre of the book. I haven’t read Jody Hedlund for awhile, but it seemed she stepped away from a simple story to a supposed mystery with great danger to the heroine, but the plot was excessively simple. It seemed unbalanced. However, i did, for the most part, enjoy the book!

LOVED IT!

I absolutely loved the first book in this series Love Unexpected but I have to say this book may have been a little bit better. I think this book had more action and passion. Although this book had lots of passion, it is clean with no sex

Such a wonderful story

This is the 3rd book I’m listening to from the author and I thoroughly enjoyed the story. I found myself smiling from time to time during the main characters’ interaction and I like very much the way the relationship evolved. Narrator was great. Overall great book.

Suspenseful, Romantic and Heartfelt

This was a wonderful romantic story filled with a lot of suspense, tension, heartache and sweet moments. Tom was an incredible hero. I think He's my favorite that I've read of Jody's thus far! I loved the romance and unabashed passion Tom's dad had for his wife and how he encouraged Tom to Love like that too. The dinner scene in chapter 12 had me giggling and fanning myself . Just so fun, sweet and honorable. A clean yet passionate story not to be missed!

Sweet Story

I do love Jody Hedlund's writing style! Her stories are engaging and her characters become as familiar as friends & family.
I'm not a big fan of people in positions of trust, & having made promises, going back on them, so I cannot give 5 stars. But, as always, it is a lovely and compelling, detail-rich story.
I especially liked the messages about trusting God with loss.
As with the rest of this series so far, the narrator, Becky Doughty, does a real nice job as well!

Boring, predictable, vapid, not worth reading

Narrator has this strange upward inflection at the end of each sentence which was very distracting, but the story was really not impressive either. My least favorite in this series by far.

Disappointed

Good story line but needed further editing as wording and grammar are frequently incorrectly used. This takes away from the impact and flow of the story telling.
