A+++++++++

WOW I am extremely happy to have found and listened to book 2 that continued from book 1 of this series! The narrator is absolutely exceptional!

Contrary heroine

I enjoyed the concept though the heroine was whiny and a contrary. She lacked confidence in herself, which contradicts the first book with her strong character and life mission to stand up for people like her. I get the point of the story was for her to find herself and her new strength under many choices but it was too much “I’m not worthy of my mate” sniveling.

Not long enough!!

I really enjoy this series but the books aren't long enough. I'm used to at least 8+ hours. Nonetheless, I still like book 1& 2.

let down from first book

I enjoyed the last 40-60 minutes of the audiobook, the rest was a let down. Why do authors always have the heroin have an emotional melt down that lasts most of a book or multiple books in a series? To me some of the emotional drama was out of character of the warrior, kick-ass female Forest is portrayed in the first book. That is just me and maybe I'm wrong.

Forest Fire Legends of Regia 2

This book was better than the first and for the first time in a while, 6 months or so, I have been enticed to read to the 3rd book. This is a rare good thing. Forest putting on big girl pants and dealing with her emotional issues was exactly what I was hoping to see. She took a while (more than half way through the book), but she finally addressed her self-loathing and self-hate. I was glad to see the main character not SOOO wrapped up in her mate to make her one decisions. I liked how the authors made it a guessing game out of Rahacsiriss (daddy) being a bad guy or not. I was not able to tell until the end, and honestly am still not sure. I feel like he could go either way in future books. I did was to know more about how the people of Regia accepted this new republic and what the heck did Netreit do to Forest’s house. Totally missed that? Over all great read and I am on book 3 already.

Too much ANGST

I loved the first ½. Witty, surprising, cool twists and characters. The second ½ was what I dislike about some romantic novels written by women. Angst. I expect some, a good story needs some. But over and over the same thing — I’m not worthy, I don’t deserve ... , woe is me, poor me, I love him/her too much, yada yada yada.

The last ½ was like a classic Japanese novel , 5 pages of idyll, happiness- then 550 page of torture then 5 pages with a more or less happy conclusion followed by one page of it won’t last.

At least this book didn’t have the it won’t last part.

The Overall book is Good, the Heroine is....

A little whiny, ungrateful and a pain in the ass. But other than that the book was good

I really wanted to like it...

First, Khristine Hvam is amazing as narrator. But Forest is, unfortunately, just another whiney, selfish, ungrateful, cry baby. It was hard enough to deal with in book 1 but she's positively UNBEARABLE in this one. She gets everything she ever wanted and then goes against the good advice everyone constantly gives her when she has her melodramatic breakdowns and screws it all up. Of course. She repeatedly treats the amazingly patient and sweet Sylas like complete crap. She needlessly hurts him over and over and over and he just keeps taking her back. That's probably the worst part of it all. Yes, these types of books often have unrealistic relationships.... it can make them entertaining. But it stops being fun and romantic when one person is a hateful jerk again and again while the other just takes all the abuse andimmediately forgives them. Had he ever called her on her crap and then made her actually earn his trust back I could be here writing a totally different review. ******SPOILER******* The part that made me decide I was done with the series was the end where Forest has the gall to CRY over the death of the man who raped and enslaved her. She holds his hand and tells him it could have been different and that she'd have given him her love freely because she does love him -if only he had been kind to her. Syras sees and gets pissed but less than 5 mins later she makes him think he's the jerk and gets him to apologize to HER!!!! It was total BS. Read at your own peril. lol

Dark & Gritty! I love this world

What made the experience of listening to Forest Fire the most enjoyable?

Forest makes an incredible choice in this book, even if she wallows first. While second books are always a downer or there's no reason to triumph in the next one, I found myself addicted despite the dark tone of the book and listened to it in less than two days!

Fair warning! This series and characters are addicting.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Forest Fire?

When she confronts her fears and triumphs! Jane does a great job of making each scene unique and twisty--never exactly what you expect.

Have you listened to any of Khristine Hvam’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Hvam has a great voice for this.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Be careful what you wish for!

Any additional comments?

I have listened to the first two books in this series in less than a week, not the norm for me. I have downloaded the next one. Fast paced with characters I care about. I can't wait to see what happens next.
