Publisher's summary

SLACK

Ford Aston is not too picky about what he wants out of Christmas. He's not into this holiday - like at all. He doesn't do presents or family dinners or parties or church.

He does pets. And he's got one lined up for Christmas Eve. In fact it's the highlight of his day. And if he can get through drop-in visits, nosy 12-year-olds, an inappropriate conversation with his best friend's girlfriend, dinner with a family that's not his, and a party at his mother's house - well, he might just get home in time to enjoy himself with a stranger and make it all okay.

TAUT

Ford Aston is known for many things. Being an emotionless, messed up bastard, a freakishly smart social outcast, and a cold, domineering master who keeps "pets" instead of girlfriends.

And after Rook broke his heart, he plans to keep it that way.

Ashleigh is known for nothing, and that's exactly what she's got going for her. She's broke and stranded in the mountains with a three-month-old baby, and Ford Aston is screwing with her head.

Big. Time.

And she plans to mess with his right back.

It's a coy game at first, filled with flirting and innuendo - but Ford soon realizes something is not quite right with Ashleigh. In fact something is seriously, seriously wrong, and the closer they get to their final destination, the closer Ford gets to the truth.

One night of devastation, self-loathing, and emptiness turns into the best thing that ever happened to Ford Aston. But one day of in-your-face reality threatens Ashleigh's whole existence.

simply AMAZING!

I thought I would struggle with this one. I wasn't sure if I really liked Ford through Rook and Ronin. I was so very wrong!

I was blown away at how I grew to absolutely adore this character. He's complex, strong, loving and a complete a-hole! This is such a completely satisfying read.

JA Huss you're a magnificent story teller....although I did miss my EOBS.

Love Troy Duran

NOTE - READ IN 2020, JUST REVISITING REVIEW, AFTER RE-LITSENNING AGAIN,. Love the story of Ashley and Ford. Ford has always been one of my favorite character in this series and it turns out he is so loving, gentle and self, something one would not have learn unless from reading from his POV. Troy Duran carried this entire book and did a beautiful job, love his gentle/sexy voice. JA Huss never dissappoint!

Great listen

I liked Ford's story line. His growth was astoundingly written. The narrator did a great job with the reading and intonations.

The Bad guy gets the girl!

I love the end. This is why I love JAHUSS books. There is always a twisted ending, and finally she wraps it all up in a nice and neat bow. Try it and read it.

Again, it's "couldn't care less!!"

unfortunately, my only complaint still applies to this book as well - the phrase is "couldn't care less," meaning you could not care any less....author never got this memo, so she still said "could care less" again throughout this book.

Liked but a little slow at first and has BDSM!

Any additional comments?

I really liked it for the most part but beware it is several chapters in before the H and h even meet so the first several chapters were a little slow for me - just Ford running all around town oddly which was boring to me. Therefore, for me, it didn't draw me in right away. And I will say I am not at all interested in BDSM and this has it. I hated the whole "pets" thing - and no we are not talking about four legged pets. That part was very degrading to women in general. With all that, I am surprised I gave the story four stars but it is because I liked the book after the H and h met - up until then, not so much. I downgraded it to four for the first part of the book. I considered giving it three just due to the BDSM and the pets thing but the rest kind of made up some for that.

The performance was fine so no problem there.

Sizzling Sexy Read!

Any additional comments?

Slack/Taut is a spin-off story from J.A. Huss' series about Rook & Ronin. Ford Aston is on the road, and he is trying to leave Rook far behind and find some peace away front he woman he loves but can't have. Along the way, he finds new meaning in his life.

This in-depth look at an already loved character, Ford Aston, is a fun and fast-paced read. J.A. Huss has a knack for creating credible, imperfect, neurotic characters that you can't help but love.

I didn't think it possible, but I loved the audiobook more than the hardcopy! The narrator did a fantastic job. The intimate scenes were more intense and the emotional scenes actually made me teary-eyed.

A great listen!
