Publisher's summary

Book Seven of the Demon Accords. Chris Gordon has never had an easy relationship with the White House. Now, after rescuing his goddaughter from a secret base in New Hampshire, it’s reached a new low. You drop one little asteroid onto the continental United States and the entire government goes crazy. On top of that Halloween is fast approaching and demons are popping through into our world every which way. Forced into the world of high-level politics, Chris and Tanya and their merry crew will have to stay two steps ahead of just about everyone if they’re going to have a chance in hell of preventing all Hell from breaking loose.

Demons, Halloween, and Corrupt Government...

Forced Ascent
The Demon Accords, Book 7
By: John Conroe
Narrated by: James Patrick Cronin
It is Halloween and not only is Chris fighting the demons but the corrupt government! What? We have a corrupt government? Say it isn't so! They want to control Chris and use him. They think is smart to take his god-daughter or his woman....(evil laugh)...sure, true that, see how that works! I love this series!
Love the narrator too. Good all the way around!

Chris was amazing and they're going to learn. Gathering the next powerful and training up is fabulous.

This series is very addicting! One of the best.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters are all really likeable. The writing takes you from tender moments between characters to conflicts with evil, our team of heros usually prevail and it is just plain fun. I agree with a previous commentor that the success of the goverment in this book was a bit of a downer and was why I only gave it four stars. One more note, if you have such a tiny little mind that you can not handle a work of fiction that includes concepts of Heven and Hell that may not be biblical, you might not like this, but get a grip. Its fiction, not an attempt to redefine your religion.

Have you listened to any of James Patrick Cronin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have truly enjoyed Cronin's naration in this series. He is excellent for this type of book.

it's still a good story

it's still a good story, just didn't like the government getting the better of the kick butt team..or the big world wide reveal. My opinion is it took something from the story.

Want to Loose a Summer? Binge on!

One little asteroid! After all that was done for a country, I can't understand their snit over an asteroid. It's not like they think he's to powerful...

Chris goes head to head with the government

I continue to enjoy journeying along with Chris Gordon on his trek of discovering what new powers he manifests as he continues to fight all the various powers of evil. James Patrick Cronin continues to do a phenomenal job of narrating this story. This is the sixth book in the urban fantasy Demon Accord series. I especially love that Christian’s character, despite his unique overwhelming powers, is still sweet, a bit naive, and modest which makes him a very likable hero. Chris is a demon fighter. Due to the unique abilities he was born with, he can see demons, remove them from their host or location, and banish them back to hell. He also has been infected with the virus that causes vampires and weres to exist but he’s neither a vampire nor a were. His girlfriend is the strongest and most revered vampire in the world. In this book Chris and his merry band are on a collision course with the government which wants to control him. Chris will be forced to step out of the shadows to deal with the latest threats. The book has the same main characters from the other books with some new characters added into the mix. The story includes what you’d expect from this genre - fighting, dangerous situations, paranormal creatures, evil masterminds, henchmen, loyal friends and family, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, snark, and laughs. Like the other books, every time Chris is confronted with a new threat, he develops a new or stronger power and kills them in 3 seconds. Despite knowing this, it does not change the enjoyment of the story. I will definitely keep reading the series.

Chris bites the dust, bummer!

The author struggles to come up with a story idea, so in my opinion, punts!

I did not like many parts of this story, because Chris, the superhero, fails to be super and gets taken down. While the ending resolved in a positive fashion, it wasn't because of Chris taking charge and over-coming! I kept expecting the same level of performance as in the earlier books, didn't happen in this book!

Excellent read

John Conroe's series, "The Demon Accords," keeps getting better and better. If you are a fan of the Harry Dresden seres, give this series a try. Christian like Dresden keeps getting himself into deeper trouble.
