Publisher's summary

Harley Vincent is resigned to life in the human world. Sure, being a margay shifter is half her nature, but life among humans gives her the freedom to roam and do as she pleases. That is, until anti-shifter extremists target her, putting her life in immediate danger.

When an old acquaintance and onetime fling, Jesse Dalton, shows up to offer the protection of his pack, Harley hesitates. She may have feelings for Jesse that go beyond their one-night stand, but life among shifters means giving over her independence to the needs of pack. Plus Mercury Pack has its own threat to face: a rich half-shifter is determined to claim their territory at any cost.

Jesse, who lost his true mate as a child, has wanted Harley since their night together, and he's not letting her go again. They may not be destined for each other, but he knows she belongs to him and with his pack. Even if he can convince her to join him now, can he convince her to stay?

Loved the story -But too much sex!

I loved the story but just too much SEX. I really do love it when there are sexy scenes as long as they enhance the plot but just to have it for sex's sake just doesn't do it for me. Sexy scenes are awesome as long as they are something that works within the plot. I just like a good story line. However, others might like it and I do have a fast forward button so that I can get back to the plot and I don't skip them all. It does make a 5 star book go down to 4 or 3 when it overwhelms the book at least for me it does.

Another great story....

Loved the adition to the series. At first the story started as if it was a different narrator. Then after a chapter or 2 the original voices returned. Can't wait for the next book, keep them coming....

Family

For Jesse the Mercury pack is his family, but so is Harley, even if she doesn’t realize it yet.
When the Mercury pack’s new neighbor thinks he can bully & blackmail the pack to get his way, things go bad fast.

💕 ed it!

The question that is asked was this book a struggle to finish? No, no and no again. Fast moving! Jill did an amazing job narrating this book. The most memorable part was when Jesse finally opened himself up to Harley. He thought he was going to lose her. I got book 4 before book1. To me they are all like standalones. I intend on finishing up this series. Adios.I

Good series

Harley Vincent hasn't led what most would call a traditional life, even for a shifter. Maybe especially for a shifter. Her pride was more of a party of wheels than a group that staked a claim and had each other's backs. After a group of humans kills her brother, her father hunts them down and ends up in jail. Without her mate close, Lily, Harley's human mother, falls apart. Harley is sent to live with her human aunt, Tess, never looking back at the shifter world. Not until that world tries to kill her and a male from her past turns up to save her. A male she walked away from because they could never be.

This was a fun, steamy reads. Harley is an independent character who can't fight her inner cat, and why would she want to? Jesse is a all dominant wolf who lost his true mate as a child and hasn't fully recovered, although he thinks he has. He decided years ago that Harley was the woman for him and has kept track of her, waiting for her to come to him, but when her life is in danger, he waits no longer, moving to protect what is his. Jesse and a solid pack is really what Harley has craved her entire life and he knows it. Harley knows she wants Jesse, but she also knows he's holding back from a full bond and she won't settle. Despite the insta-attraction, there's work to be done cementing the relationship and a neighbor threatening the pack to contend with.

I have to say, I really appreciated the narrator on this one. Lots of different characters that I didn't get lost between. Good performance.

Jesse and Harley

As always Jill Reidfield was amazing and I love the shifter world Suzanne wright created. The outside mystery wasn’t my favorite but I enjoyed experiencing an imprinted couple and I loved how real Jesse and Harley had to get.

Weakest story in series

The author's and narrator's voices both sounded "off" in this book. I'm no prude as anyone who reviews my library can attest, but the inconsistencies in the storyline kept it from offsetting the heavy sex. ( ex: she's a musician performing at a nightclub; but at her mating ceremony she "doesn't like to be the center of attention". Where did I miss her stage fright or fear of performing? her angst and pushing herself to go out on the stage? Nada. Nichts. Nyet. If I'd read this book first, I would never have bought the others. I really got a feel in the work that Wright was spending time reading Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series (scents) and her Psy-Changeling series (cat & wolf shifters)....both of which are excellent.

Finally the Imprinting Story

We all love Wright's True mate themes but were wondering if the secondary characters were cheating themselves by imprinting rather than waiting for their true mate. The answer kids is no they weren't cheating themselves and by taking the imprinting theme on head on in this book she opened up a world of possibilities for her packs. They are no longer tied to just finding another wolf shifter in a world full of shifters.

The introduction of a new shifter species and different types of packs such as prides will broaden the world she created allowing for more humor and fun. The love is as good fated magic thing is pretty great too.
