Two best friends from high school, Mark and Jesse, are ready for graduation. During their senior year, Mark develops romantic feelings for Jesse, but held them in check throughout the 12 years that follow because Jesse is married to Annika, his high school sweetheart. They have a daughter and another child on the way.

However, after finding out he has an inoperable brain tumor, Mark decides to tell Jesse how he feels, which is only one of several truths they’ve hidden from each other. Plus, they’re fearful of Jesse’s wife, who has grown suspicious of their close friendship. So, Mark plans a revealing weekend getaway with Jesse in a remote cabin in the woods.

This book was not what I thought it was going to be from reading the description, I liked the narrator, although there weren't distinct voices for the characters so it was hard at times to figure out which character was talking. I'm really not sure what category this would fall under it definitely didn't feel like a romance. I hate to say that none of the characters were really likable. Some of the things said about his wife just didn't need to be said. But it did keep my interest, and the twist was nice. I'll definitely read something from this author again
