Publisher's Summary

NAACP nominee and best-selling author Beverly Jenkins returns to Henry Adams, Kansas - an unforgettable place that anyone would want to call home - with a story of family, friends, and the powerful forces from our past that can irrevocably shape our future.

Mayor Trent July and his wife, Lily, are enjoying life as newlyweds and embracing the challenges and joys that come with being adoptive parents to two wonderful boys. But being a father has inevitably forced him to think about his own birth mother. Raised by his grandmother, Tamar - and, in many ways, the good people of Henry Adams - Trent was blessed with a childhood full of love.

But now he can't help wondering what happened to the scared teenage girl who gave birth to him. And questions that he's never voiced are now begging to be answered: Who was she? Is she still alive? Why didn't she want him?

Trent has always believed no good comes from dwelling on the past, especially when he has a loving family, a strong community, and folks who depend on him. But when the past comes to Henry Adams, Trent has no choice but to face it - and the woman who left him behind.

The truth will shake his very being and everything he thought he knew about life, love, and the bonds that hold families together...yet can also tear them apart.

Fantastic Story!

LOVED IT!!

This series continues to get better and better. I do enjoy the wholesome yet down to earth fun, humor, compassion, high jinx, and most of all the unconditional love and support of these characters offer one another. This series always makes me wish there was a town like this in reality.

Myra Lucretia Taylor is one of my favorite narrators. She did such an awesome job bringing to life the multitude of characters in the fictitious town of Henry Adams and one of the biggest deciding factors as to why I used purchased this audio. I hope she is used for the next one as well.

Can't wait to visit again!

This book and the entire series is absolutely wonderful. It is like visit old friends and catching up on what has been happening in their lives.
I could really see this as a television series on the hallmark mark channel or better yet BET or Centric since I have never seen an diverse cast on hallmark.
Somebody call Oprah and let her know that if she is looking for a great series to bring to her network to look no further.
I can't wait for the next book to be turned into audio book. Hearing the reader bring these characters to life is a joy. Don't wait get this now. It will be a credit well spent.

This book was ok. I really like her westerns. This was not suspenseful, it simple told the story of a second chance. I did appreciate the humor in the story.

Keeps Getting Better

I'm loving this series, getting down to the final and it will be bitter-sweet. I'm loving the characters maturity, the growth in the town and the newest citizens! Bernadette is awesome and her generosity is a blessing, even love that her sister matured. Great story and narrator!
I would recommend!!!

These Blessing Novels are truly a blessing to me!

When I consider what is contained in a blessing, the happenings in these novels are spot on. this is especially true when we remember God's Word that we are to spread the blessings until all of the world are blessed. That someone with obvious excessive means would consider helping the three groups society disdain the most i.e. children, old folks and Black folk immediately won my heart. For her to bless these folks in a town founded by Black people made the story and the blessings all the more heart warming!!!! since the first blessings novel I read I have gone on to purchase all the rest I could find. I also researched Henry Adams Kansas and was glad and humble to note that while the stories may be ficticious , there really was a Henry Adams Kansas founded by newly freed Black escaping the murderous Whites following the failure of Reconstruction. These novel have not only entertained me, they have provided me a history lesson this lying usurping group of rulers will never willing tell. Thank you Miss Jenkins for the entertainment and the history lessons. great novels, I am a fan for life!
