Publisher's summary

Laci Rocha Peterson, eight months pregnant, was last seen by her sister, Amy, in the late afternoon of December 23, 2002. She spoke to her mother, Sharon Rocha, at 8:30 p.m. that night. This would be the last time anyone from her immediate family ever spoke to her.

A search began which lasted an agonizing four months. Sadly, Laci Peterson and her son Conner were found dead on the shores of San Francisco Bay on April 18, 2003.

Her husband, Scott, was eventually arrested and charged with the murder of Laci and Connor. After a sensational, media-saturated trial, Peterson was found guilty of capital murder and was sentenced to death on March 16, 2005.

This book deals with the story in three separate sections: first, Sharon describes the ordinary, loving life her daughter led, including fond memories of her childhood and adolescence. Second, it covers her marriage, disappearance, the community's moving search for her, and her and Connor's eventual recovery from San Francisco Bay. Third, it tells the story of the trial in detail not before revealed. Sharon also talks about victim's rights, a subject on which she now campaigns regularly.

Heartbreaking

Your heart will break all over again for Laci’s mother and family! This book gives Sharon’s play-by-play account of the months leading up to Laci’s disappearance and every day after till the end of the trial. It also offers excellent insight into what Laci was like as a child/teenager/young woman. Do not go into this book looking for detailed drilled-down evidence and trial drama. Go into this book expecting to read what it was like emotionally for Laci’s family from when she disappeared to their interactions with Scott and Scott's family. Plus, their journey from supporting him to questioning his guilt.

Good Read

Honestly,I was hesitant to pick this book.I did not think I could stand to hear the sad/gory details. Honestly, I thought it would be depressing. However, I was rivited to the trial with the rest of the country.

This book was fasinating.I felt like I had spent the evening having Sharon Rocha over for dinner and she she shared her heartwrenching story with me. Sharon narrated and did a great job.
I got the abridged version (fearing the detail in the unabridged would be too much)
I now feel I would like either.
I am the mother of a 20 something daughter, and My heart goes out for Sharon and the whole Rocha family.
Laci was such a beauty . Like the rest of the world I still cannot understand, WHY?
Sharon is such a strong woman, God bless her.
I appreciate her sharing her story. Reccomended!

Beautiul Tribute

Sharon Rocha's story, For Laci, is one of the most candid, heart-warming narratives I have read. I sincerely hope she finds happiness, peace, and closure after the loss of her beautiful daughter and grandson. Thank you, Sharon, for sharing your story.

A Woman Scorned Ended it all for Mr. Peterson

Listened to in February 2006. I thought this book was well written, penned by the mother of a daughter who was killed in such a horrible way by her husband and he was very close to the family. The resulting events with the husband's (Scott Peterson) parents, post murder, and how the parents antics are described in this book ,with such control by the author, is amazing. I'm just glad that it was put out there in writing for all to see. It comes across as a very accurate account, not sensationalized at all. So glad that Scott is forced to think about his actions in prison -- he could have gotten off if it wasn't for a woman scorned......who blew his cover.

Excellent

Very touching. Much insight gained both about Laci and the Petersen family. What a total shame. Should not have happened at all. I admire Sharon Rocha for her class and courage dealing with the Petersens. She treated them way too kindly for what they did to her family.God bless you,Sharon.

Emotional

Sharon Rocha took me on this emotional journey with her. I felt her pain, her heartache, her anger and all the feelings she felt when she lost her daughter. She did a fabulous job with this audio book. Her dream about her father and Laci at the end really resonated with me. A must listen.

Laci Peterson from her Mother's view~ 5 stars~

plot: Sharon Rocha gives us a close up look at her daughter Laci Peterson and the murder by husband Scott.

Sharon Rocha narrates this book she wrote. It beings with her life and family including her daughter Laci who eventually marries the man of her dreams Scott Peterson. The horrible phone call that began the search for Laci and her unborn son Connor. When the police add more and more pieces into the puzzle of what happened to Laci the story takes a turn to their murders. And how Scott becomes the suspect and his hidden life with Amber Fry and the man everyone thought they knew .....was a killer. Very nicely done. A very good story. 4 hours is perfect for this audio book. And we learn little known facts on how Scott planned the murders including purchase of a boat 2 weeks before they died and the cement anchors he made to help hide the bodies. Sad, yes it is. But heartfelt. I give it 5 stars all the way.

amazing

Only a mother could describe such incredible Love, Pain and Strength for a child. Sharon is the epitomy of of poised woman. I can't explain the emotions I felt listening to this story. All I know is being a mother of 3 daughters one born March 26th 2003 I have connected with this story since the beginning and even so many years later it still effects me. This was such an awful , cruel , senseless crime. God Bless Sharon and her family. I know the pain will never go away but I hope and pray you always keep your amazing memories up front. I'm literally crying as I type this review. I just can't describe how amazing this book is.

You will feel absolutely everything

Everything that Laci's Mother, Sharon Rocha felt came devastatingly through. The anguish of not knowing, the heartbreak of knowing, and the painful ache of acceptance.

A Very Touching Book

This isn't a great book, but I found it to be very touching. I followed the case from the very beginning, and I've read all of the books written about it so I wasn't expecting many more revelations. I selected it, though, because Mrs. Rocha is the narrator and I was curious to know what she had to say. I listened to it in one day and it held my interest. The story is mainly about her murdered daughter and how she and the family was able to cope with the fact that the murderer was their son-in-law.
