Publisher's summary

Millie Barnes is this close to finally achieving her perfect life. Rewarding job as a local doctor on Cape Cod? Check. Cute cottage of her very own? Check. Adorable dog suitable for walks past attractive locals? Check! All she needs is for golden boy and former crush Joe Carpenter to notice her, and Millie will be set. But perfection isn't as easy as it looks - especially when Sam Nickerson, a local policeman, is so distracting. He is definitely not part of her master plan. But maybe it's time for Millie to make a new plan....

Best Book Ever!!!

This was one of the best stories delightfully narrated by Xe Sands who is absolutely fabulous in her delivery. Even though we all know what’s going to happen to Millie before even she does, the ride that this book takes us on is the way a romance story should be. And while I love a sexy story, Kristin Higgins doesn’t need sex to interfere with the story she’s trying to tell. Great characters, especially the female lead, makes for the perfect romance. If you pass this one up, you have no one to blame but yourself.

Cute

A cute, slow burn, love conquers all, coming of age story. Many many details make it feel like a slice of life description too but the characters were cute and charming so it was enjoyable.

Good book but too much crying.

Mostly I liked the characters. Some you really don't get a chance to know. The narration was really well done. I have to speed. it up a little or it sorta drags.

Creepy stalker doctor

while the last book I listened to from this author I enjoyed, this one was horrible. the narrator was better in this one, she talked way to soft in the last.
main character is a doctor who is stalking her high school crush in such a way you think she may still be a high school girl. she talks about herself like a 15 year old would except she has thousands of dollars to spend on hair, skin and clothes. she complains about weight then you find out she is 134 pounds.
she tries to plan ways to meet up with her crush that is reminiscent of a teen. she tries to be humourous but it is just creepy.
and don't get me started on the diarrhea dog.

in my opinion she is to immature to be a doctor or a grown woman. and she really should not own a dog.

Love

Xe Sands is an exceptional performer. There has only been 1 performance I didn’t care for. She never fails to make Kristan Higgins’ books cone to life! I wish she would read them all ;)

Higgans never disappoints

Another great read with wonderful narration - Higgans always entertains and her characters are so identifiable - couldn’t put it down

Predictable but fun

Not my favorite Higgins Book. The plot was super predictable right from the beginning but it was definitely entertaining. I laughing and gasped a few times but to be honest I was uneasy with the content and some of the main characters decisions. The ending left me feeling a little creepy.

Couldn't have been better.

Perfect. Loved every minute. Kristan Higgins is a genius with romantic comedy. And Xe Sands is one of the best narrators out there. She could read me the phone book!

The Narration is a big reason I kept listening!

Fools Rush In by Kristan Higgins (Audio Edition)
Narrated by Xe Sands

3.5 Stars

I have had this book in my tbr pile for a while. Some of the reviews were not that favourable, so it kept getting pushed down the line. However, I finally decided to listen to it, largely because I love listening to Xe Sands (the narrator) and also because Kristan Higgins hasn’t steered me wrong so far.

The characters: Millie, she seemed a bit immature to me for a good chunk of this story. The whole “stalking a crush” is very much a high school girl thing and just seemed a bit pathetic for a smart woman, on the other hand I can see how she’d perhaps kept that crush alive in her mind for so long, that she just wanted it to happen….albeit desperately. She had some good growth in the book, which I liked to see and in the end she was a decent character.

Joe.. oy! That guy was too much. Some of the crap he pulled mad me just plain angry.. Then for Millie to just accept it! UGH!!! Whatever.. His immaturity matched Millie’s during that part of the book so, I guess I can’t complain too much. He had his sweet guy moments but he definitely wasn’t a normal Higgins hero that I would fall in love with.

Enter in Sam. Here’s the hero.. He’s a good guy, sweet, funny, caring. All the good stuff. I enjoyed his straightforwardness and conversations with Millie. The naturalness between these two is one of the reasons I kept reading… (the other pretty much was the narrator, I truly love her voice). Sam's teenage son Danny was also a great addition, and I really enjoyed the bond between him and Millie.

Now.. for the subplot… I will admit that I did get weirded out by the whole “ex-brother-in-law turned lover”, for the sole reason that he had a kid that, if this turned to marriage, would have to switch from her being Aunt Millie and now think of her as his step-mother.. But I must say.. Kristan Higgins even wrote this well. When it came right down to this part of the book.. I was fine with it.

In the end, this wasn’t a favourite of mine by this author but I am glad I read it.
