Loved the story arc, the introduction it gives to the journey of women pilots toward inclusion in the military, and the complex and compelling characters, asserting their right to dream big and fly

Wonderful story

Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres. This novel takes place during WW2, and tells of the heroic efforts of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) but also of the reality of racism during that era. I really liked the main character, Ida Mae Jones, and felt sympathy for her struggle as a fair-skinned black woman, "passing" as white in order to serve her country. The narrator's voice was very good, and I could distinguish the different characters easily.

Brings humanity to history

I love that the author took real events from our countries history, and brought it to life using not only real historical people, but also putting her own creative spin on it.

Great story, included true facts a out WASP. Realistic situations a out interaction between close friends.
