West Hall, Vermont, has always been a town of strange disappearances and old legends. The most mysterious is that of Sara Harrison Shea, who, in 1908, was found dead in the field behind her house just months after the tragic death of her daughter, Gertie. Now, in present day, 19-year-old Ruthie lives in Sara's farmhouse with her mother, Alice, and her younger sister, Fawn. Alice has always insisted that they live off the grid, a decision that suddenly proves perilous when Ruthie wakes up one morning to find that Alice has vanished without a trace. Searching for clues, she is startled to find a copy of Sara Harrison Shea's diary....

Therese Wolley is a mother who has made a promise. She works as a secretary, shops for groceries on Saturdays, and takes care of her two girls. She doesn’t dwell on the fact that her girls are fatherless, mostly because her own father abandoned her before she was born and she has done just fine without him. Even though her older daughter regularly wakes with nightmares and her younger one whispers letters under her breath, she doesn't shift from her resolve that everything will be fine.

Story
Founded two centuries ago by a powerful tribe of Gottwa Indians, Rowan was a quiet town, so quiet that I fled after graduation. Staying away was the plan, but Mom died suddenly. Dad said she suffered a stroke after she dug up one of the ancient graves in our backyard, which happens to be the town cemetery. Creepy, I know. Creepier still, there was no corpse inside the old coffin, only fresh rose petals. As we made preparations for Mom's burial, new people began arriving in Rowan, unnervingly handsome and odd people.

Jonah Baum sees his ordinary life come tumbling down when his wife and young daughter vanish from their home. No evidence of a kidnapping. No sign of murder. No proof that Rebecca didn’t simply abandon her marriage. Just Sally’s crude and chilling drawings, Jonah’s little lies, and the sheriff’s nagging fears that nothing is what it seems. For Sally’s best friend, Lucinda, it’s something else. She trusts Sally not to just disappear, not after they’ve shared so many secrets - especially about the woods and what they saw there. But she’ll never tell. No one would believe her anyway.

Publisher's Summary
Life hasn't been kind to Oliver Toye.
As if juvenile diabetes wasn't enough, he's forced to live with his tyrannical grandmother at the foot of the Rocky Mountains in a snow-bound house. He spends his days doing chores and his nights listening to the forest rumble.
But he discovers a leather-bound journal, and family secrets surface. Like the mystery of his great-grandfather's voyage to the North Pole, when the snowman first appeared.
Oliver will need the snowman's magic, more than once. But when the time comes for Oliver to discover the truth, will he have the courage? If believing isn't enough, how will he save the snowman from melting away?
Sometimes even magic needs a little help.

Wonderful Christmas Story for All Ages!
Where does Flury rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The best ever and I've listened to more than 200 of them.
What did you like best about this story?
This book is destined to be a classic, and not just for kids. I’m 68 years old and I thoroughly enjoyed it as did my son, his wife, and my four grandchildren ( We listened on long car ride to Thanksgiving family reunion. ) We all loved it!It had two bullies to dislike, an unhappy diabetic boy to love, a tyrannical Grandma who is much more than she appears to be, several “weird” mysteries to solve and, of course, a giant snowman! Just searched and found this author has two other Christmas books: Claus: Legend of the Fat Man and Jack: The Tale of Frost. I now know what's next on my "must listen" list and I've found the perfect Christmas present for the grand kids!
What does James Killavey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Excellent reading. Good voices. Good emotion when needed. First class. Glad to see the other two books are also read by him.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
I've leave that to the pros...hope they come up with a good one.
Any additional comments?
If you are looking for an audio book the whole family will love, especially around Christmas time, this is the one. Really exceptional story and performance.

Wonderful book...Could not put it down.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
A very big YES! I figured it would take me or week or so to finish this. That's what is normal for a 9 hr book. Wrong! I finished it in one day. Just could not stop listening. Listened while preparing for Thanksgiving, listened while taking a walk, listened while just sitting. No TV for me today! My husband was getting a little frustrated at my having ear buds in all day but..if I can convince him to listen to it, I'm sure he'll understand
This was one incredible book. And let me emphasize that this is not JUST a kids book. Although they will love it. This is that rare kind of book that everyone can enjoy and that will leave you with a smile that may last for days! I plan to make this a once a year listen. ( if I can wait that long. ) Merry Christmas to all! This sure got me in the spirit, even though it's Thanksgiving day as I write this.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Hard to chose but really liked Oliver and Molly.
Which character – as performed by James Killavey – was your favorite?
Again...hard to choose. He did them all well. Really liked the voice of the Grandmother.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Almost did....with breaks...but still heard it all in one day.
Any additional comments?
Never wrote a review before and I don't usually gush but...WOW...This was fantastic.
Just hate that's it's over.....On to check out the author's other books and hoping he uses the same narrator.

GREAT story.
What did you love best about Flury?
Everything.
What did you like best about this story?
Hard to say much about the actual story with being a "spoiler." Lets just say it was a wonderful story. Romance, the supernatural, a bit of positive philosophy...it had it all.
Have you listened to any of James Killavey’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Great job. Loved the many voice
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Flury: Journey of a Snowman, sounds just fine.

Terrific Story
Would you listen to Flury again? Why?
Yes. Perfect winter story with a bit of everything...love, suspense, the supernatural, the unbelievable....but...you believe!
What other book might you compare Flury to and why?
Claus: Legend of the Fat Man....same author...and just as good.
Which scene was your favorite?
Too many too list.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Ditto
Any additional comments?
Probably the second best book I've ever listened too...and I've listened to hundreds.

seemed to drag on forever. We did not enjoy
it seemed very repetitious. To be honest we stopped and started the book several times but I've done that with other books and still enjoyed them. We were really ready for this to end by the time it got there. I will say this the last few chapters did a good job tying things together. but I felt this could have been a much shorter book and it would have been improved

Nice twist of Christmas story
I liked to twist of the classic Santa story. I was kept entertained until the end. I would have been totally in grossed had I enjoyed the narrator's voice. His cadence rarely varied and the lift in his voice at the end of every sentence was annoying.

An amazing journey from beginning to the end!
A fascinating re-telling of Frosty the Snowman that will really hold your attention to the very last word! I've loved all the books so far in The Claus Book stories, but this one is definitely my favourite! I couldn't put it down! This is another one I will definitely be listening to again! Excellent narration by James Killavey.
