Publisher's summary

Adrian Powell has a secret, a secret he’s guarded for 17 years. But it’s come at a cost—few friends, fewer lovers, and a lifetime of loneliness. If he’s a bit grumpy and a tad pessimistic, who can blame him? So, exactly how he’s ended up with a bunch of nosy friends, a beautiful lakeside cottage and a successful business, is beyond him.

It’s a life he never imagined, and one that includes a problematic new neighbour, Niall Carmichael—an irritating, equally grumpy, sexy as hell silver fox, who kisses like a dream, shakes every one of Adrian’s walls, and who might just prove Adrian’s undoing.

But secrets have a way of catching up with you. And when Adrian’s past comes knocking, it might just threaten everything he’s built.

Hilarious and Heartwarming!

"Safe Inside from all things chest hair and DIY" The entire first half of this story was the best banter, one liners and humorous private thoughts that two men could ever have! Adrian and Niall have chemistry for days! The progression to physically intimate was so hot and then it just naturally solidified into feelings! Neither of these men was even slightly good at opening up and sharing and that somehow made them fit even more. We get to see all the other series couples and Adrian's working relationship and genuine close friendship with Ethan, that Adrian tries to pretend he does not treasure, was priceless. Gary Furlong Owns this series and these men with narrations. There was nothing I did not love about this audible!

A story about learning to love finding your tribe

I just loved Niall and Adrian. Both men are damaged and need to learn how to love. Niall is so wonderful with Drian, helping him heal his wounded heart. Adrian helps Niall realize that he can love and support someone. The narrator was fantastic.

Holy moly the level of suspense was amazing

Kudos to Gary Furlong. He is an amazing voice actor and not just a narrator going through the motions. He makes you feel completely immersed in the story.

I really enjoyed this story of two very stubborn and prickly individuals falling in love. The ending soothed my soul, although there was quite an escalation of suspense and angst on that journey. I’ve listened to some stories that suffered from gratuitous sexual content that obstructed the plot. Fortunately this story had a strong plot and would have been equally as satisfying with fade to black or no spicy scenes at all.

Almost 5 star

So I really really enjoyed it, and I was close to giving it 5 stars but it has a little too much angst for me. And the conflict climax was a little ridiculous. Having said that, the connection between the two grumpy men Nial and Adrian was great. And seeing them slowly trust each other and accept friends was heartwarming...I might have even cried a bit. But the best thing of the entire book was the Carmichael family, hysterical and perfect. Highly recommend, my favorite of the series
