The title piece touches on two of the most spectacular military actions of the century and sees Flashman pitted against one of the greatest villains of the day, and observing, with his usual jaundiced eye, two of its most famous heroes.
As always with George MacDonald Fraser, Flashman's adventures are related with verve, dash, and meticulous historical detail.

Flashman at his best
Thrown into the fray! A blistering tribute to the heroic philanderer unable to put this down once halfway at least, this fellow Fraser knows how to spin a ruddy tale which left me in stitches to the last.

The weakest book in the series I'm sure. A bunch of mildly interesting stories with a misleading cover.
