Publisher's summary

Returning home has never been so bittersweet in this acclaimed novel from number-one New York Times best-selling author Sherryl Woods.

Flamingo Diner has always been a friendly place where everyone knows your name. Unfortunately, in the small town of Winter Cove, Florida, it is also the place where everyone knows everything about you.

As a teenager, Emma Killian didn’t recognize what a remarkable business her family had created, and so she moved away. Now, her father’s tragic death has brought her home to face a mountain of secrets, debts, and questions about why and how her beloved father died. As Emma grapples with her out-of-control family, the responsibility of keeping Flamingo Diner afloat, and a pair of well-meaning senior-citizen sleuths, she finds support from an unlikely source.

Onetime bad-boy Matt Atkins is now the Winter Cove police chief. Matt has always had a penchant for trouble and an eye for Emma. Now, it seems he’s the only one who can help Emma discover the answers to her questions...and give her a whole new reason to stay home.

Very Real

It was life like. It was a little slow but also very real. I enjoyed it

Good story if you can get past some irritations

it is a good listen, and a good story, but there are definite obstacles. Narrating is tough, the voice of Matt always sounds angry, like talking through gritted teeth. And the initial reaction of the Mom to the tragedy is kind of over the top and annoying. I would recommend the read.

Narration

I'm going to read the book before doing a book review. I don't care for this particular narrator's voice.

Not worth your Time.

The story was not up to par with other books by SHERRYL WOODS AND SIMPLY DIDN'T Hold my interest.

The narration was horrible, especially on the male voices. Emma's boyfriend, Matt's voice was flat , monotone and devoid of any emotion.

I forced myself to keep listening in hopes of a more suspenseful or exciting story. Very slow moving. Great if you like sap.

Not Very Interesting.

Narrator was not the best - kind of annoying at times. Really didn't like the lead character - she was shallow, selfish, over dramatic, and generally annoying. Really didn't like this book much. but listened to the end because I'm stubborn and hate to quit.
