Disappointed in this 3rd book

I really enjoyed the first two books and was looking forward to this one.

There were some interesting space battles, but for the most part, I was rather bored with this book and eager for it to end. Straker was acting like a dumb, steroid hopped up, arrogant prick most of the time... especially while on Terra Nova... that part of the book couldn't end soon enough! I'd be willing to bet on which author wrote those chapters.

Mark Boyett's performance was as good as the first two books.

The Way to Keep the Story Alive!

Without going into much detail, I will only state that this episode of the series started out on a steady path from the previous books and then took a leap-of-faith vector in another direction making for highly interesting entertainment.

Deus Ex Machina anyone?

The basis of this series is great, but the fact that everything turns out perfectly every time is a bit frustrating. You can't have coincidence solve a problem every single chapter, it is dumb and is a bit lazy. the series has become more and more about letting coincidence show up over and over to allow an easy out. well performed, but come on man...

Enjoyed It.

At first there seem to be two different stories but the author brought them together nicely and turned out to be a nice read.

GO!!!

From beginning to end this book is just plain action, unending action, until last several minutes. Boyett remains masterful as always, while the authors pace and battle vignettes can overload one’s senses, to bad I’m only human with out the support of an AI to keep track of the numerous story lines. In summary, an excellent addition to this series.

Holy Hubris!

I usually like stories by the author, but these really rankled my sensibilities. The protagonist is not that likable, seeming immature, angry, and impulsive. He usually exemplifies everything he claims to hate.

The female protagonist is disgusting. As a woman I am offended by the portrayal of women as either oozing sexuality, childish jealousy, indecisiveness, or over emotionality. Even as an Admiral she is not respected by the male protagonist who routinely overrides her judgment and decisions.

This is unfortunate, as the story is engaging and could have been so much better without the above stereotypes. As other reviews have mentioned these tropes are outdated and very over done. There are much better options out there, including from this same author.

The narrator is wonderful as always. The story is okay for what it is. If you can get past the annoying points it’s probably worth a credit. Enjoy!

Give the reader credit for having and using their own imagination

I find the constant need to use crude profanity and excessive over use of sexual description and content, kills the story, it does not add to it. I’m a pretty seasoned reader. So,I get it! I Just get so stinking tired of writers that feel they need to over indulge in this type of writing to try to hold their readers, This story line is really good. So, why muddy it up with over indulgent and tired content that does not add to the story. It would seem, the writers have some very personal issues that need to be addressed! Because their frustration really shows.
As the reader or listener in my case. I’ve got a pretty darn good imagination like all readers of SiFi. I love a good story and this is a pretty good one. Great concept and a great cast of characters. As for the narration. Mark Boyett is one of the best. It’s because of him that I even started this series. He is a real compliment to any writer. So, to sum it up. This is overall a well developed and technical storyline. Far to much unnecessary sexual content and crudeness. Each book gets worse and more explicit. Just stick to the great story. It can stand on its own with out all the extra crap.

Love this Series

World and character development continues well. Even the predictable is good. More exciting red pilling.
