Publisher's summary

Maverick

I know it's not right to want her as much as I do. In fact, it makes absolutely no sense. Our relationship is strictly professional, and I get that. She's my therapist, for Christ's sake, but I can't help but think she's everything I've ever needed.

She says the way she treats me is part of her job and nothing more. She said my response is the result of transference, but hell, the only thing I want to transfer to Amaris Flowers is the unbridled brunt of my passion until she's screaming my name, over and over.

Her code of ethics dictates that she can't engage me for five years.

That's fine with me. I'll wait.

Amaris

The minute Maverick Dangerfield walks into my office, I can immediately assess his energy. He's cocky and grandiose - used to getting just what he wants, when he wants. He's also sexy as hell, and it's not long before I find myself pulling on every part of my clinical training to ignore the things he's projecting.

When he walks into our session and announces that he's quitting therapy, I'm shocked. And relieved. But when he reveals that he's only ending because he plans to wait out the five years, I know that trouble is on the horizon.

Like I said, this man is used to getting what he wants, and I have a feeling that by the time five years is up, he's going to get it.

An unsatisfying slowburn

*LIGHT SPOILERS AHEAD*
I wanted to like this book but overall I wasn't a fan. The idea of someone waiting for 5 years is romantic and could have been a good slow burn story but the climax of the story has to be worth it. I feel the author fell short of that. Some romantic stories are so good that you forget about the sexy part. The romance and struggle between the two main characters didn't justify the long awaited ending. The female main character is a therapist but fails to see, acknowledge or deal with her unhealthy views on being "the right kind of woman". She calls out (rightfully so) the male main characters mother out for her destructive and toxic behavior but the author lets her mom off the hook with little reconciliation. I was frustrated with her having all these negative views on women's sexuality repeated in her head by her mother and never breaking through that barrier in a satisfying manner.

I really enjoyed the males voice in the Audible but the woman's voice was very irritating. I had to really push through to finish because her voice was so jarring compared to the male counterpart. The woman's voice also didn't do a good job with the male portion. It would constantly take me out of the story because it sounded less masculine and more silly.

An awesome tale of true love!

She changed him. He waited for her. Their love was epic. The male narrator did well. The female narrator fell short when she did the male voice but over all... great performance by both. This story is deep POV at it's finest. I love stories like this. It really helps the reader connect with the characters. Thank you, it was well recieved.

I can’t get through chapter 3

So I started this book thinking the premise sounded very interesting. I do like a good duo narration. The only problem was the hero is white the near ration by the male for the female was also white. Then BOOM I’m a sassy Black woman by the female narrator!!! It became an issue with the flow of the story couldn’t gel in my brain.
I just can’t finish this and who’s I didn’t wast a credit.

Mental health care

This is a very very good story about Mental Issues. The writer touched on all the ups and downs on the Issue. I loved the Story.

Good representation of mental illness

This was a great storyline depicting mental illness when it goes unchecked; especially in today’s climate. Storyline provides a myriad of emotions from sadness, to love, to romance, humor, etc. Religion and faith is also represented. The narrators did a great job; although Lacey’s voice didn’t quite fit the main female character; I’ve listened to other books narrated by Larry that were a better fit. All-in-all, I enjoyed listening to this book.

Troy and Lacey are my new favorite narrators.

I read this novel a year or so ago, but when I heard Troy’s voice, I had to buy the audible recording. I was not disappointed. Troy can read anything and I’ll buy it. He’s sexy, smooth and vulnerable, a great combination. I’m looking for my next Troy narration now.
Oh, and I also loved the story.
