Publisher's Summary

Based on the best-selling horror video game series, Five Nights at Freddy's.

It's been exactly 10 years since the murders at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, and Charlotte (Charlie for short) has spent those 10 years trying to forget. Her father was the owner of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza and the creator of its four adult-sized animatronic animals, and now Charlie is returning to her hometown to reunite with her childhood friends on the anniversary of the tragedy that ripped their town apart.

Curiosity leads Charlie and her friends back to the old pizza place, and they find it hidden and sealed, but still standing. They discover a way inside, but things are not as they once were: the four mascots that delighted and entertained them as children have changed. The animatronic animals have a dark secret, and a murderous agenda.

Brilliant.

I honestly loved this book. Suzanne Freeman does an amazing job voicing the characters. aswell as telling the story. Scott and Kira did a very good job with the story, but it did leave me with wanting more. My favorite character is CHarly, Mainly because the story resolved around her. She is the main character.. My least favorite was Lamar.. I felt he was undeveloped really. If there is a second book, I will be grabbing it. The Story, I will admit, wasn't scary at all. But being a fan of the games, I knew what was happening around every corner. Overall. It's a good book, and a great listen. Suzanne brought character to these characters.

Suzanne makes it!

The writing was well done, enough even to stand on its own... but the voice acting was very well done. I was reluctant because horror books can be made silly very easily by the wrong tone. Suzanne definitely delivered the suspense very, very well. Story was lacking a proper ending for me but still, overall a steady 5.

A simple game turns a good mystery

The novelization of the FNAF game series proves to produce a solid story in novel form. The games themselves are largely very simple, in gameplay, but it's the subtle details and atmosphere that draw so many in for speculation and anticipation. The novel manages to capitalize on these traits quite well, spinning an excellent tale woven from elements familiar, but much more involved, than those gleamed from the games.

As such, I absolutely recommend it to those who are hungry for more story from this setting, though it may confound speculation on the game story, as I hear it's considered a parallel or alternative interpretation. Just the same, what is revealed is very compelling and absolutely stands on it's own. In fact, the way it's written, I could easily see this adapting extremely well to film - if they are basing the movie on it - in the hands of a capable director. ... And it says Book 1? Oh spud.

Helpful

It is normally a challenge to read books, especially long books like these. I got all three of the book because I love the game but I could never understand what the book was saying. what I started to do was annotate on my pages but when I was gifted this audiobook it was life-changing. reading along and understanding the tone of what was being said was so helpful to prosses the book I recommend any audiobook for teens to young adults but the voice actor for this one was incredible I loved the tone and the way she read slowly and articulate so I could prosses what she was saying 10 out of 10.

Welcome to Freddys

ill admit this book took time to get into with a intresting opening thats tries to grip you with a cliff hanger of whats to come. which i thought wasnt needed.. however where to story starts very slow it needs to keep you intresred some how. when listening to this book the characters where believeable and its easy to realate toe given how past events have effected them all. all connected to "freddy faz bears pizzaea" now closed down and left to rot. and with good reason of child disapearences and murders. on the anniversary of a certon characters death all the friends reunite to clear the past and hopefully give it some closeure on the murders that happend. only to find out the animatronics have a big story to tell in their haunting actions and rusted parts. it realates to the games well but changes the story enough to keep it fresh and i prefer the story here compared to the games story. its alot of teenage drama to start with but stick with it as the great deatailed story really shines when the horror kicks off. its great for those who love the game series and for those looking for a solid horror story. Suzanne tells it well if only making the male characters sound very dull and emotionless compared to all the female characters but you will soon get over it as the story takes over. over all a fantasic read

Great Read

I thoroughly enjoyed the story, my only criticism is that the supernatural element felt unnecessary and out of place, like it was added in editing after the book was finished. There was no real build up to it so it didn’t gel well with the rest of the story. However, I still enjoyed the book!

Scarily good!

I had heard some people be really critical about this book but decided to give it a try and I was pleasantly surprised! The narration was good (perhaps a little flat at times) but overall it was tense and creepy. The story features creepy and graphic imagery that really immerses you in the story (I almost felt like I could smell stale pizza and sweat). There were odd lines I felt seemed out of place but nothing experience ruining. Not perfect but very good. Would 100% recommend!

Loving it!

I wasn't really a fan of FNAF before listening to this so I had to do some research (mainly from Game Theory, thanks MatPat!). Normally I'd listen to Alien and Predator audiobooks so this was a really nice change, cause it still has the same eerie tone but it's actually set on Earth.

Well, I've gone a bit off topic but overall I loved this book and I've already downloaded the next two books and I'm eagerly awaiting my listen!

Had potential

For such a popular game, I was expecting something a little more well developed. It had some good moments, but overall the story lacked, so it was really only okay.
