Review of First Lady

For some reason, it took me a while to get through this story. The story lines felt like they were all over the place and did not flow. Additionally, the narrator's voice was not the best and I found it hard to listen to her, especially when she did the different accents

All That Glitters...

Interesting listen. The book is written and narrated beautifully. You never know what’s going on behind closed doors.

A Little Predicable

This book is 3 first person stories in the past tense. There is not much action. Each character mostly tells what happened to them over time. It reads like a diary confession. Each of the 3 first ladies experience some trials and tribulations you might expect in a stereotypical church setting. The stories are mildly interesting but I found myself predicting what would happen at the end and was right every time.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review of my honest opinion.

First Lady, First Draft

When I first started listening to this audiobook, I thought the narrator was “overacting”. But as I listened further to the characters, I warmed up to them and even began sympathizing with their predicaments!

This is a story of three ladies who became “first ladies” (wives of the pastors) of the church. They all experienced problems of one kind or another with their pastor husbands, which led to varying degrees of disillusionment and disappointment in their roles. In the end, they all seemed to come to terms-in varying degrees- with their respective dilemmas.

Even so, I think the author needed to revise the stories further before recording this audiobook, so the overall story might have been more coherent. One of the stories was rediculously shorter than the others, and some of the stories seemed incomplete or missing important details.

The narration was decent, but as I said, the narrator seemed at times to overact.

I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

Different

I got this book via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This story was different. It is the story of three women who became First ladies of the church. Their stories are very different yet similar. Two of them sorta went together but the third just did not. The narration was good although at times choppy. The first story seemed to not have an ending. the second story did end but left me wondering what happened to the bishop and the son. The third one was just there and ended with a part of the second story as the epilogue.
